Yesterday, my brother went through. It kind of shook him up, it’s too bad because he was really starting to get into ice fishing.
All that standing water on top of the ice and under the snow is just a normal insulating factor and charactoristic of Mc Bride fishing.
The other day I was fishing a spot and then looked over to see a lone guy walking across the lake where just five days before was open water. It just goes to say that just because other’s are out there does’nt mean it’s safe
I have found most places on the lake being 8 to 12 inches, no problem…. use common sense, be careful, & hope to see you out there. John

John, were you guys down by the powerlines? Your right, this snow sure did make a mess of things.

I fished between the ramp and the rental on Saturday AM and there was a solid 12-18″. I would’ve never guessed there were still thin spots (outside the dam and causeway).

It happened on the North arm on a long under water extended point. About 15 ft from shore. I think the dark bottom combined with a good sunny spot probably made the rotten ice. Be carefull east of the south arm boat ramp, expecially out a ways, as it could be a bit iffy.
