I love this weather!
Okay, it’s still August and this is just a taste, but can’t wait to target those big chunky, plastic SMACKIN’, crank whackin’, hair jig poppin’ eyes this fall.

I hate winter and fall would be my favorite season if winter didn’t follow it.
I do agree though fall is far and away my favorite time to fish walleyes. Yesterday felt like I should be drifting and jigging on leech.
I keep seeing everyone talk about hair jigs. Never fished em for anything but crappie. Going to have to look into them and see what all the rage is about

As fall rolls in… I start coaching HS football and the boat gets put away for the year. Bittersweet. Week days are spent working, week evenings are spent at practice, weekends are spent reviewing the previous game and preparing for the next game. I could, and occasionally do, get the boat back out in late October and November, but I absolutely love Pheasant hunting, so that generally takes all my free time in the fall once football ends. Might make one very quick trip up north Labor Day weekend to officially signal the end of open water season for me this year.
River temps where 67 sunday on the croix. Very cool for this time of year. Wouldnt mind seeing temps come back up until about the middle of next month. Been a fun summer of soaking the lawn chair in the water and catching what ever swims by.
I LOVE this weather too! Crisp, cooler air, hoodies to protect me from the sun, crunchy leaves beneath my feet as I traipse through the woods for three months, hunting, camping, fishing on the river with my Dad… Sept, Oct, Nov are my three favorite months and I wish it lasted twice as long!
