I hit a local shallow lake around Chippewa Falls this weekend for just a couple hours with my daughter who kept asking to go. I was shocked when I put the boat in and saw the water temp had dropped to 54 degrees already. I thought the bite might be tough with all the water that had been flowing threw the lake and the temp dropping like it did, but the crappies were cooperative.
Most of the fish we caught came out of submerged trees in about 6 feet of water on Pug Bugs teamed up with Spike worms below a slip bobber. Most fish were in that 10 to 11″ range and there were plenty of them to keep us both occupied.
