I have a 2013 power drive trolling motor that is a foot controlled system. I would like to convert it to a remote system with spot lock. I would seem that it may not be done but that a kit may be available to do this. Is this something anyone has done or am I just wasting my time. Thanks in advance for any help.

I got a kit and converted my Power Drive to I-Pilot years ago when I had a Power Drive and it worked very well. The Spot Lock was actually better than the Terrova that I upgraded to later. Unfortunately I see that Minn Kota has discontinued the conversion kit for a 2013 Power Drive. Maybe you can find a kit someplace on line. It’s easy to do.

I did the upgrade on my PDV2. It was very very easy to do…like minutes. Other then SS/DS, this was the best addition I made to my boat. I love the remote but nothing tops anchor mode, direction heading, and the other great features of ipilot. I think the upgraded head unit is about $450.

Thank for the info. Looking online I came to the same conclusion when i looked at the Min Kota cite. I thought I saw an ad for another company that made up it’s own kit and hoped someone had used this and had some info on it. Thanks again for your replies guys.

I added one to PD2, that was purchased used out of Canada on ebay.

For a while they offered two versions, just like they have today.
    With and without IPilot Link.

The one I added had the link feature. I like the link feature more than the remote. The spot lock is OK, but not perfect.

Would I do it again, yes. In a heart beat. I paid about $250 US. I took me about a year to find.
