First time I ever poured or tied my own jigs. Going to to try em in the back yard Saturday “pool 4”. Any advice or tips on how to improve welcome.

I used craft hair so I bulked a few up on purpose.

Practice makes perfect. Keep tying. Honestly though, best thing to do is let the fish do the talking.

Hard to tell from a picture. I could give you a better “review” if I had a dozen or so in my hands. waytogo

They look real good. Its fun playing with different color combinations. Welcome to the addiction…
I think you could skip the eyes, IMHO it not really effective in terms of getting fish and just takes time and money.

One of my favorite color combinations for a lot of different species. They look fishy to me. What did you use for the jig head paint?

Those look really nice. Just a couple bits to consider. Keep in mind I know nothing “0” about Pool 4, but have been making my own jigs for years. From the photo it looks like you might want to shorten the tails to about 1.5 times the length of the hook or the amount of tail behind the hook should not exceed the gap of the hook. Longer tails usually create short strikes. You might also want to use a contrasting color for the eyes if your looking to trigger feeding strikes. For reaction strikes eye color is not so important. Not sure how craft fur moves in the water, but I mainly use natural hairs or marabou because of how it moves even when the jig is still. The movement alone can trigger feeding strikes. Again I’m no expert, but these have worked for me. Good luck.

We caught only a few small sauger down by Bay Point. It was a wash my friend had minnow on brother didn’t.

They both caught fish. Myself a big old goose egg…. Beautiful day though.
