Connecting Ipilot Link to new Hbird

I Just rec’d my new terrova 80 with ipilot link. I plan on hooking it up to the new hummingbird.

When unboxing it, my buddy was cutting the carton into manageable sized pieces and loading them in the woodstove. He mentioned after they were burnt that there was a note on the box stating something about needing a certain connection to make the link workable……

Not being able to tear into the assembly/installation for a while(boat is not at home), I would like to buy everything I need ahead of time, so that in a couple weeks, when I am working on it, I have everything. I wish he hadn’t burned the box without reading what it said……:???:. Is there anything extra that needs to be purchased to tie the two together? Or does the exorbitant price they get for the motor actually cover all needed supplies in order for it to work?

If you have more than one humminbird to network together with ipilot link you will need more. But if it is only one bird and the link then you only need part from above.

If you are linking multiple units to it, yes you will need more items, and the price jumps up quite a bit. Those ether net cables are pricey, I networked mine when I installed the new electronics on mine last year. Don’t remember exactly but i think it added $350 to 400 to network 3 units and the i-link together. But if just connecting to one unit, like said above, if it’s a ‘xx9’ or 700 unit you’ll need the adapter, otherwise your good to go as is.

    Thanks guys.

Kind of a burr under my saddle, that after dumping that kind of cash on the unit and motor, that they skin a guy another few bucks to make it work……lol

Agreed! I thought about getting another humminbird unit for the bow to network together. However, when you add in another ethernet cable and the ethernet 5-port switch that will be required you get another 350-400….pass when I have already spent a few thousand on equipment.

With that being said….I continue to love my 899 and ipilot link!

Everything seems to be like that these days. There’s big money in accessories and add ons. Frustrating indeed!
