Confused are inflatable life vests legal in MN

    I was told to be very cautious about CHILDREN life jackets. The ones that specify the weight of a child. They must / should have a crotch strap to prevent the child from sliding out of the jacket in the water. I am in US CG waters.

    Ive researched this over and over. I all depends on what the label states. Some will say must be worn on Type 2 commercial vessels. Based on the text: must this be worn in a fishing boat to be legal?

    I found that the USCG lets each state decide the rules.

    USCG specifies the….TYPE / class of jackets that are legal in all states.

    So you have to know The RULES of each state you boat in. Ages are all over the place……….. How do you prove age of 7 or 10 year old’s in your boat ?
