Maybe I’m the only one who missed this point, but here is a bit of info for those of you going….
We had all the Arrive Can paperwork done, with some effort, and crossed going North easily.
Bought our leeches and crawlers there, had a great fishing experience at Lac Seul. Used up the leeches.
When we returned to Rainy River headed South, one of the last questions was “any fish or bait with you?”
They made us dump the best looking crawlers we have seen in a long time, ON THE LAWN AT THE CROSSING OFFICE.
Can’t bring any bait purchased in Canada back to the USA”…….
Had I known this, I would have made other arrangements to sell or give them to another angler.

As soon as you pulled away, they probably boxed them all up. Smart! doah

One would assume since there’s restrictions for crossing even some state lines with bait.

Had U.S. customs officer confiscate a half of my McDonalds hamburger a few years ago. I was eating lunch when I pulled up to the booth and I lost my half eaten burger. At the time there was an issue with mad cow or something and a ban on meat products. Not sure if McDonalds should have been classified as meat !

That would be the nicest thing a border agent could do for someone. He was just trying to save you from yourself !!! jester

I have a friend who has been crossing the border regularly since the 1960’s through baudette. He has an Island on lake of the woods. He said the only trouble he ever had is when he admitted he has some fruit in his vehicle. He waited an hour and half and the guy stated dont ever bring any fruit or vegtables back across from canada to the US.
