There are millions of shad smolt heading to the Pacific Ocean on the Coulumbia. We were pulling the boat out last Weds night and watched the water surface break with hundreds of the little fellas leaping about. The Walleyes (and everything else) are having a great time gorging to the limit on them. The eyes gain a bunch of weight and become really hard to catch. We managed to put three 22″ fish in the boat on MD’s final trip up the river before he headed back to Indy. The fish all came on plugs.
Attached is a pic of the gates at the John Day Dam open. Now that is a bunch of water headed west!
Hope you all are catching a bunch. FAll is coming, so gear up!

Out in Oregon land where the walleyes grow bigger and they are all eating shad for breakfast, lunch, and supper!
