I dont follow college hockey as much as I once did when they were all in the WCHA but I’m biased and like the Badgers over the Gophers. Cole Caufield will lead the team to a win again tonight. Montreal is going to get a heck of a player.

He’s ridiculous. 27 goals is a lot for a college hockey player nowadays and its even more impressive considering its a shortened season. Plus he missed a few games while at the World Juniors. He is going to win the Hobey Baker Award.
I watched the tail end of their game yesterday and saw his game winner. Poor goalie had no chance. Sprung him on a breakaway and the goalie was left holding his jock.
Go Huskies! And I guess Goofers too. NCHC is the new WCHA, best conference in hockey!
Go Huskies! Nieces boy friend plays, she played on the women’s team but graduated last year. I became a big Huskies fan and now he is a senior, bummer!
The Big 10 is a joke of a conference… Go Sioux! While tonight’s game doesn’t really matter too much, it will be interesting to see how they seed the teams this year since they cannot use the pairwise calculations.

I couldn’t agree more. The WCHA peaked my interest and had it all. No conference today compares. Now I rarely do anything but read the occasional score in the paper.

My son went there- said that’s what the student body wanted them called. He was on committee with several Native Americans who were all pissed they wanted the name changed- they apparently liked it and felt it was a powerful symbol.

It seems you and many other share the same sentiment, including me. Barry Alvarez ruined the best hockey conference in the country. It was pretty easy to follow the Gophs when you knew they were on FSN at 7pm every Friday and Saturday.
The Red Menace has had Goldy’s number for awhile. It sure would be nice to take it to them this time around. Yes, C.C is a helluva player. Ranta (Gophers) was said to have almost committed to Madison. What a difference that would have made to the two programs.

It could be quite an NCAA tournament if the beavs can get another win or two because that would place all 5 D-1 teams in Minnesota into the tournament, plus North Dakota and Wisconsin. It’s going to have a lot of local flavor, especially the regional in Fargo.

I don’t know if I’d say the Badgers have had the gophers number for awhile. Before this year the last time the Badgers won the season series against the gophers you have to go all the way back to the 2008-2009 season.

That was fun. Got too close in the 3rd but good to see at least one U of M team get to hoist a trophy every now and then. NCAA run will be interesting!
As an old alumnus, GO SIOUX! However I have paid way more money to scsu and umd and my kid is a freshman at UMD. Tuition costs have gone up substantially.
Suck it Badgers. Don’t get to say it much for most Gopher sports outside of hockey so going to say it.

Well 1 out of 2 aint bad I guess. I thought St Cloud was never fully in control even with a 2-1 lead after 2. All of the sudden the green plague took over and kind of ended it in about a 3 minute span there. I think its safe to say that they will be the top overall seed in the tournament.
Yes, go Sioux! I’m thinking the Regional in Fargo is going to host some great games. The committee will probably try to avoid sending western teams to the east coast so Fargo could be loaded with local teams. Sioux vs Goofs, anyone?

That is impossible now. They will both be number 1 seeds in separate regionals so they won’t meet until the frozen four, should they both get that far.
There is a regional in Colorado and either Mankato or Minnesota will be the top seed there. The other will get sent out east. Its likely that Duluth, St Cloud, Wisconsin, or Bemidji State could end up in Fargo though.
That Sue Huskies game was fun to watch! Pretty crazy 3rd period, should be a fun NCAA Tourney with all these local squads.
Gopher rejects will suffice, I suppose.

Yeah, the students were pretty vocal about it but they were never going to have an impact. Yes Karen IS NCAA but apparently not for EVERY college sport or team ( Braves, Gauchos, Chippewa, Tejanos, Seminoles) or was it more about the “fighting” Sioux? How about the Fighting Scots? Where does it end?

Wrong Satellite company. My neighbor bitches about all the channels he lost on Dish and I just shrug and say “sucks to be you”. I have them all with DirecTV.
