Next time you and mother hitch up the wagon and go into town take a look around you might find that things have changed a bit and its not the 1950’s anymore, like it or not.
Nothing personal Tom, and not really agreeing with Crappie neither, but man this is top 5 post for me, hilarious!

I do not agree with what a princess football player did, but what crappie55369 said is completely factual. For him to get ripped on for stating facts is ignorantly sad. Whether I like it or not, Capman can sit on his hands and flip the flag and national anthem off.
Does it tick me off?
Yes!
Am I going to put the hoods on and burn a cross in his front yard?
No.
My dad is 82. One of his best friends happens to be black and is older than my dad. It sickens both of them how ignorant people in general are, black, white, yellow, pink and purple.
My son in law is in the marines, have relatives on both my and my wife’s side that have served. One relative was in one of the plane’s that bombed Japan. None of them like what the Capman did. But most take the high road and will say he has his right.
It’s easy to join the lynch mob and crucify Capman.
It is also in people’s rights to voice their freedom of speech and say that Capman is this, that and the other thing.
I for one respect crappie55639 for not agreeing with what an over paid sports goon said or did, but standing up to the mob mentality for the Capman’s right’s, even if he doesn’t agree with it and it’s not popular or pandering to the majority. That’s character and someone I’d be proud to share a day in the boat with.

Won’t have to worry about that he will not be playing most likely.

I can tell your intelligent and passionate about this, and You make a good point about our freedom to do or say what we want according to the constitution.
My confusion is why then are you trying to shut everyone else down?
August 29, 2016 at 4:01 pm #1636512Crappie this thread is about as political as your permit / inspector thread. You are dealing with government = politics, This a$$ clown was dis-respecting the symbol of this country. I don’t care who likes or dislikes that, it won’t fly with me.
Dan Patrick said it best today, if he wants to protest by not standing for the anthem fine, go to the locker room and come back when it’s over.

Because this is a public forum where everyone who enjoys the outdoors is supposed to be made to feel welcome. Banter like this where “like minded country living” folk gather to have adult discussions about political issues which include predudicial comments and where people like me are bushwacked for daring to say different, can leave many “non country living” who don’t feel the same as you do to feel unwelcome. I believe that is the reason behind the ido staff members decision to leave politics and religion off of the member boards. If we are to be Stuards of our lakes and streams to preserve them we ought also to be Stuards of this forum and uphold it’s integrity so that all can enjoy it for what it is; a wonderful resource to share our understanding and enjoyment of the outdoors not a place to strong-arm others into pledging allegiance to your values
hndPosts: 1579August 29, 2016 at 4:10 pm #1636516people are bushwacked for which flasher to use or which boat to buy. its like here in adult land. if people get all butthurt about it perhaps the internet isn’t the place for them.

Well hopefully most of us would remember this. So what other allegiance would I support…none other than this! There are now many campaigns to end this in our public schools. I would not strong-arm others into pledging allegiance to my values but do not hesitate to let everyone know where my values are.

With an electoral college (as you are referencing) it is possible to take a Democracy and turn it into a dictatorship. Far from a Republic. I think we all know what I am referring in this issue. That Kaepernick and crappie (among others) are in the minority… most of his team, his fans, the people of San Francisco, the people of California, the rest of the United States and Usain Bolt comprising the majority.

Amazing that people continue to call out Crappie when we have someone in here saying that the draft should be re-instituted and no one bats an eye!
And if you guys need help figuring out why ‘ ‘political’ threads about FISHING regulations’ are on topic on a fishing forum and ‘political threads about presidential parties/elections’ are off-topic on a fishing forum then, well I don’t know what to tell you. Here’s my summary of this thread:
Crappie: “Is this thread maybe too political for this forum, i.e.: against the forum rules?”
Everyone else: “By GAWD I thought you were a decent human being but it’s clear you’re not, so GET OUT OF MURICA. Best stay off muh property or you’ll be looking down the wrong end of muh shotgun, as long as Obama doesn’t take all my guns away. The fact that you’d take that darkie’s side and disrespect the flag that is all of a sudden the sole symbol of military service is ridiculous, especially considering that rich football player specifically stated he was protesting something completely different. Oh, and every 18 year old should be forced to enlist and put their lives in danger for a cause they don’t even feel strongly about(were we fighting in Iraq for American’s freedom? I can’t remember) even though our current volunteer military is the best trained and most effective military in the world. Everyone in this free country that we fought for should be forced to follow some military puppet’s orders because that is the true definition of freedom.”
Crappie, let’s talk fishing man, maybe there’s a forum somewhere on that there internets where one could partake in such an activity?
August 29, 2016 at 7:24 pm #1636548tickle, you must be reading between the lines somewhere ??? he bowed out on the first page, but somehow keeps popping up ??? obviously you don’t know what the military is about. the soldiers do not “decide” to go to Iraq…. elected officials vote for it and the military goes. period. maybe meet up with him and have a drink or two….
August 29, 2016 at 7:30 pm #1636549As far as the draft goes……….if EVERYBODY’S kid had to serve there would be less wars. Old men start the wars and young men & women die defending their policy’s.

I’m not sure that I really said that at all but alright.
As far as the draft goes……….if EVERYBODY’S kid had to serve there would be less wars. Old men start the wars and young men & women die defending their policy’s.
I doubt it. If everybody’s kid had to serve we’d have significantly more turnover in the military and a significantly less effective one. Meaning more soldiers killed in action, more widowed families, and in the case of an altercation that actually does threaten our freedom, a worse chance at our desired outcome. I mean as awesome as that sounds I think I’ll pass.
Does forced entry into the service sound like freedom to you?
I know this post will be twisted and misconstrued to fit someone else’s narrative, but I have a ton of respect for people who served in the military. Many of my family members and friends have served, and I respect that a lot.
August 29, 2016 at 7:53 pm #1636552Who would Kaepernick call if some one stole his Maserati?
If he call’s a cop should they just sit down in protest?bigpikePosts: 6259August 29, 2016 at 8:02 pm #1636554<div class=”d4p-bbt-quote-title”>bigpike wrote:</div>
And food stamps, and free education (as a minority)Where do people get this “free education” for minorities from? I’m a minority, and don’t remember getting anything free. There are grants, and financial aid for all people who are willing to work for it. And by the way, screw Kaepernick, SKOL VIKES.
My daughter being W.M.C. had to deal with this issue every time she applied for grants in college. If you cant figure it out for yourself why should this middle class white male give you another avenue to take my tax dollars, not that they wont be abused some other way but a man needs to draw the line somewhere
August 29, 2016 at 8:03 pm #1636556I had pretty good luck fishing pool # 10 on the sip till the water rose. Waldo’s and gills.
August 29, 2016 at 8:08 pm #1636557My point tickle, is that in the military, you don’t get to “decide” which order your gonna follow or war your gonna fight, because it does not line up exactly with your feelings. You may think that’s just a line from a movie, but it is reality. What Kaepernick did was selfish and self serving. Heard it said tonight, he is on the chopping block and this is a way to “set-up” his “wrongful cut” lawsuit when it happens. Douchebag move for sure….

Hey man, I… totally agree? Like I said, I think you misinterpreted what I wrote above.
My point was that forcing people to serve in the military is an interesting take on ‘freedom’. And the Iraq comment was an admittedly hamfisted comment about how our ‘wars’ haven’t actually been about the freedom of our country in a long time.
Something something oil, something something terrorism(and seriously, screw those monkeybutts), but not like axis of evil threatening to literally take over the world. Not saying we shouldn’t be involved in some of these conflicts, but just saying they haven’t exactly been protecting John Johnerson’s right to defecate on his back forty while shooting his ‘semi-auto’ AR with roman candles strapped to his head.
August 29, 2016 at 8:58 pm #1636564For me, when I hear the Anthem, I think back to what Francis Scott Key witnessed and put on paper about Fort McHenry. That is what it means for me, not when my skinny ass was in Fort Knox in 1985… There was ALOT of blood spilled, from white men of many nationalities, black men, native american men, all in the name of the freedom that we all enjoy today… that to me is sacred and should not be used to further one’s personal agenda or purpose. Is it his right, absolutely, does it make him the biggest tool in the country on sunday, yep.

Careful, don’t lump everyone who posted here as taking personal attacks. There are some of us stating our beliefs and personal convictions/commitments without chopping anyone down. Must say however, with as many enemies as the United States of America has, we shouldn’t recreate the a civil war here on IDO.
