Kaepernick refuses to stand during National Anthem:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick

This statement comes from a guy who lives out an American dream of both white & black kids across America. Im confused, where did he catch a raw deal from what America has to offer???

Was that politically incorrect of him? Personally, I try not to get too wrapped up in political correctness.

Where do people get this “free education” for minorities from? I’m a minority, and don’t remember getting anything free. There are grants, and financial aid for all people who are willing to work for it. And by the way, screw Kaepernick, SKOL VIKES.

The disrespectful SOB needs an education given to him about what people in the military have sacrificed based on their belief in the National Anthem and what it means to them. If it wasn’t for that, he wouldn’t even be playing in the NFL making millions. He needs to wake up and look at the bigger picture, or someone needs to smack him upside the head.

It’s too bad he got some bad advice and decided this was going to be his thing to protest. The NFL is such a HUUUUGE entity, if he really cared about the issues he’s pretending he does, he could have gone to the NFL and developed a partnership/programs to bring about awareness to these concerns. Instead, he gives the middle finger to the country that allowed for his adoption to take place, get cared for by a loving family and has allowed him to make more money in one game than most of the people make in a year. Bravo genius

Slightly related. Is it true the NFL wouldn’t allow the Cowboys to wear stickers on their helmet honoring the 5 officers assassinated by that sniper?

What confused me is that if you try to take his side, how are any of the issues he mentions the fault of the country (and the American flag)?

If you feel that minorities are mistreated by police, we have no national police force, that is local.

FEDERAL laws prevent any discrimination based on race for housing, employment, contracting, etc. If you feel there is discrimination here, it isnt the flag’s fault.

We have a volunteer military and have for nearly 50 years. So no favoritism there.

The Federal Govt has numerous programs to promote the welfare of many minority groups and offer them advantages not available to others.

So, I would never tell him that we dont have racial issues in our nation, but it sure as hell isnt the flag’s fault. And show me a nation where things are better???

Place his sorry ass over in the Middle East between U.S.Forces and the talliebun or Isores, then see which side he runs to first.
That should get him off his ass and on his feet.

Like what he did or not, I’ll defend his right to do what he feels is right. Aren’t personal rights a major part of what the Unites States was founded upon?
You or I don’t have to agree with his beliefs but he certainly has the right to believe in what he does.

” I’ll defend his right to do what he feels is right.”
    Me too.
Sounds like he is going to continue this sit down.
Let him carry out his right to do so.
If one dislikes his particular way of conveying his message ignore and stop talking about it. This will take away his self made pulpit then he will just look like an arse sitting on a chair pouting.

So, is this a Republican or a Democratic thread if you know so much ? America and one’s loyalty to it, is NOT political, it is what it is because of what we stand for. How ironic to have a mixed race guy, raised by white parents, all of a sudden has become oppressed. How about if he wanted to make a difference, go to Chicago and stop the black on black violence there. He is irrelevant and will be cut and go away… hey it’s our right to refuse to support him too.

Pretty potent response from you there Crappie55369.
The fact that I grew up under a 30 year Navy Lieutenant Commander mentality and have appreciated and respected what this pledge of allegiance stands for makes me dissapointed to even read a response from you like this. I have read most if not all of your posts and responses over the past few years and thought you were an OK guy.
Don’t take a shot at big_g or me for that matter. Can you even recite the “Pledge of Allegiance” without googeling it?
Do you even know what it means and stands for?

I would love to hear how this is political. Or how anybody could defend someone, who has been afforded more than most, by this country. How they can suddenly become oppressed by the same country, he has had nothing but privilege from ? I have my guesses, but if anyone thinks what he did is funny… don’t bother replying to me, PM or otherwise.

without even giving you a response about the topic of discussion here is not obvious enough to you guys that this is a debate dealing with one of the most controversial issues in our nation today and very much apart of our political discussion in America? It is also not what this website was intended to provide! Look at the things we are discussing and how inflamed everyone is getting!? What does this have to do with outdoor sports?
