Tonight on The Ticket Outdoors on 105 FM at 7:00 we are in for a treat. Our in studio guest is Nicole Michel, addicted to fishing. Started a “league” in Mn where the goal is to catch as many species as possible in the 12 month calendar. There are 161 different types of fish. So far she is at 30. Should be fun!

Stop in the KQ Booth at the State Fair and watch The Ticket Outdoors live on Sunday 31st from 2 to 4 pm!!

I counted 61 or so in the MN reg book for records. Curious to where’s the other 100 coming from?

Micro fishing adds a bunch I’ll guess.

    Shiners
    Madtoms
    Few species of suckers
Buffalo (might be a record for those)
    Spot fin
    3 flavors of bullhead
    Horney Head Chub ect…

There’s probably more too. Last year Wikipedia said 150. But that includes fish we don’t catch here anymore. Although There are many more that we prob have coming.

I heard Stru raises money by auctioning a kiss for $1 at the fair. I’d go just to see that! ;)

Really like the idea of going for all the different species of fish, is there a website for it? The idea of seining minnows not so much.

I think I counted over 40 for myself in mn alone. I’d have to say that close to 30 of those came out of the miss. I’d like to start over myself and photograph each one. Seems like fun.

Been fun to see your photos on facebook. Always fun to catch new fish. One trip of mine that sticks out is catching a dozen different species in one fishing trip. This was on the croix north of Osceola. Says a lot for the state of the fishery over there. Think if I had to guess maybe Ive caught around 25 total different species in mn. That leaves a lot to go.

On Sept 14th, MN Bound will be airing a show that Travis Frank, Nicole and I filmed sturgeon fishing on the St Croix.

Nicole was a good sport about losing a bet. )

Station has several KQRS guys (I don’t know if it’s owned by the same company) you could hardly expect anything less from them. Funny thing is I saw them interview BK down at the sports show and they aren’t spring chickens, any of those guys. Much be the radio shock jock mentality I guess.

Had you not been wearing the red clown nose you might have gotten a different impression.
