Been going to Eagle Lake since about 2003. I’ve stayed at the same lodge all but one time. A friend from north of the border suggested we stay at Colegrove’s because she is friends with the owners. Anyone ever stayed here? I’ll be heading there 6/1-6/8 and it’s close enough to the old place that I’ll be fishing in familiar waters. On a lake that size, it’s nice to have familiar spots and to know where you’re at.

I’ve stayed at Vermilion Bay Lodge. When you go this year take a trip over to Colegroves and check it out. Book it for next year if your like it.

It’s booked. We’re just renting a cabin and docking for the week. Usually do the American Plan at the other lodge but it’s getting pretty pricey. Not too many reviews online, but I trust the recommendation and really just need a semi mosquito free place to sleep, etc.

Bumping this up since I’ve got two more weeks until I go. Just curious about any direct experiences.

I did but no one has been there recently either. Or maybe they want to keep the secret to themselves. Never know.

Got back from Eagle Lake on Sat. Nice, affordable cabin, and super nice people running it. The mattress I slept on had to be brand new and was the best sleep I’ve had in a long time.

Fishing was pretty slow compared to other years, but I went 2-3wks earlier than I usually do. Weather was all over the place with 55* surface temps on day 1, up to 63 at one point, then back to 57 by day 6. There was a tornado watch on Tue, and some really nasty looking T-storms to the west. Zero weed cover in every single bay we checked. Strangely, there was a 3-4′ tall weed line at the first break off the north shore in 9-12′ fow.

We only caught fish in three spots more than once. It was a seek and destroy mission the rest of the time. We caught almost as many slot walleye as we did under. We caught four over with the biggest at 25″. I managed a 42″ musky and my buddy got a 40″ pike. Everything was caught on jigs and Powerbait minnows or ned rigs.
