Hey guys. I am looking for a pair of extreme cold weather boots for next year’s ice season. I have lacrosse alphaburly pro boots in 1000 gram insulation but it just doesn’t seem to be enough sometimes as I like to fish when it’s 20 below zero. Any suggestions help. Thanks!

You got a lot of options to choose from there. I personally do a lot of late season bow hunting, so I have a pair of Rocky Arctic Bearclaw boots that have 1600 grams of insulation. They do the trick for that and are always warm enough for ice fishing.

How are the Baffins as far as keeping your feet dry in sloppy conditions?

I’ve owned a lot of ice boots in my lifetime and found the Muck Arctic Pro to be the best all-round boot for standing on ice, sitting in a tree stand, and still having ability to walk around in. By no means a hiker or trekker style boot, but offer exceptional warmth, traction, comfort, and completely water proof from top to bottom.

Mucks are brutal in the extreme cold we get here in Manitoba. In the southern ice belt I’m sure they are fine. I finally got my hands on a like new pair of 25 year old bunny boots. So far the only boots to keep my toes warm after going through frostbite. My Baffin titans are a close second. A boot dryer makes all the difference in the world too.

I’ve tried them all and absolutely love the Cabelas Saskatchewan package boots. They are comfortable, easy on and off,and incredibly warm. I’m team them up with Kahtoola cleats and I couldn’t be happier

I’d recommend the Cabela’s Trans Alaska III Pac boots. I’ve had the same pair for 5+ years now and still holding up pretty good. These boots have a removable liner so you can dry them out if you sweat. These boots are like walking on a cloud and super warm. I struggle with sweaty feet so if I’m moving around and then sit down when Ice fishing, my feet don’t get cold as they would with other boots. I’ve also had very good luck with the cabela’s rubber boot models. I’ve had a pair of Muck arctic pros, was very very disappointed, through them in the dumpster, bought the cabela’s rubber boot models instead.
