Wondering how everyone thinks the bite is going to be after this cold front moves through.

I think it will be tough. I even had a buddy already back out for this weekend outing.
I don’t think it is that big of a deal this time of year. The water hasn’t warmed that much for the cool down to affect it drastically, but I could be wrong. Either way I am going up tonight and trying. I have yet to catch any from the couch
Cold front + wind = Good
Cold front – wind = Bad
Windblown shorelines and points should be your target.
If you’re bummed going north for any reason you should evaluate your sanity
Wind can not only stack up warm water, but cold as well. Being on the calm side of the lake in cold weather actually can be beneficial at times. Too chilly, you’ll see alot of the baitfish evacuate the shallows, those first drop offs and pinch points can be good stuff.
I wouldn’t second guess at all, unless you don’t plan on fishing in the rain. Part of Friday and most of Saturday look to be pretty wet. Fish still gotta eat, and the cold front will be nothing new this weekend.
I would say the bite today would be tough but by tomorrow and into Saturday the temps would have been stable for a couple of days. Regardless, if you can fish then you should fish. They are always biting somewhere.
I’m going to try Pool 3 tomorrow…..high water and fast water should isolate fish into certain spots so cold front be damned!
I can’t imagine backing out of a planned fishing trip on the chance you might NOT catch anything. You never know how they’ll be biting unless you’re fishing. I have been skunked when it was supposedly ideal fishing conditions, likewise have caught fish when it was least expected. As it is often said, “the best time to go fishing is whenever you can!”
Not going to keep me home! I’ll be on pool 2 and up above the dam on the gorge tomorrow afternoon, and then doing a mini tour of metro area lakes Monday-Wednesday. I usually like to take time off work the week after the opener but the weather this week was not something I wanted to contend with.
Great info provided from you guys who posted comments on this. Learned more info today from this post.
Thanks!
Well if the walleyes were snapping tonight… I think you’ll do fine in a few days.
1.1mph
Smile blade and slow death
Found the right color and steady action with 10 in 90min
Fishing partner wouldn’t take my offer to tie up a rig for him quick and he got zero lol. Stubborn, but he’s eating fish tonight
I stumbled on these fish Monday and couldn’t boat a one. Figures I’d dial then in on a day like today.

Were you on a river or lake? Just curious. 1.1mph would be pretty fast for cold front conditions in a lake around here. A river is rarely effected by cold fronts and the fish are generally more aggressive. Everything you stated would make me guess you were fishing a river.
If I cancelled trips based on weather over the years…well, I’d probably have about 50% less trips under my belt.
If my 3 and 5 yr old kids can catch fish in this weather I think you guys can!
