This is a quick 60 sec. video on boat landing safety! Some people just don’t think about it when this cold outside!

I always carry salt in the truck when fishing in the winter. Draining the trailer at waters edge is a no brainer. Think about the guy launching after you

I have pet safe salt, but if I get stuck I’ll call the DNR!-Kidding aside I would start with sand, also have kitty litter and a shovel.

Salt ends up running into the lake or river and polluting it if you use it on a boat ramp. Please use sand instead.

The greatest invention of all time is the Kitty Litter pail with the hinged cover. No plastic cover to fight on & off with cold hands. I don’t know the brand but the pail (square) is Yellow and the hinged cover is Red. I carry one in the truck. Once the litter is almost gone I put my tow chain in there. The litter absorbs the moisture helping to slow rusting of the chain. The chain is also easier to transfer between vehicles or the garage.
So you guys fishing get one of those and once it’s empty use it for your chain and receiver hitches.

most resort owners dont approve either.
i was staying at highbanks on winnie and some hunyuck put salt on there lake access. i seen the worst butt chewing ever!!!!!!!! it wrecks there landing big time late season and essentially loses them business.

I like traction sand. About that time of year to put a bag in the truck.

Wonder if the “binder” in kitty litter is “harmful”?

That I couldn’t tell you. I only use it on the driveway and only until I get a empty pail. grin I don’t fish in the winter.

Turkey grit is wonderful. Many uses besides the ramp, we use it at the hunting shack at the entrance to keep us upright when coming in.

I experienced this on a much larger scale when my buddy and I got out of the truck to unlatch the boat. Truck had parking brake set. We stood there and watch the whole rig slide down the ramp.
