We’re probably over a week out from the results for the Minnesota A and B season tag draw, but I’m getting stoked up just thinking about it. C’mon baby, be there for me!

I don’t know what the chances are since I drew the B season last year. Does anyone know if it factors into your chances if you actually kill a bird? Or is it just that you get a point every year that you don’t draw a tag?

I put in for the B season again this year. I can’t bring myself to chance the weather on the A season, we’re up north so weather IS an issue and I just feel like the A is too big of a gamble.

Who else is in on the early season draw in MN? Best of luck.

Grouse, it does not affect your chances of getting drawn if you were successful last year. Just the point each year you do not get drawn. I would think chances are pretty good, not that many guys put in for the lottery anymore since going to over the counter for C season and beyond. I have drawn A season for 3yrs in a row now. I put in again for A season but I hunt down by Preston, the weather has been good the last 3yrs during A, also it falls over Easter this year so I can pick up Good Friday to hunt all day with the day off from work. I do not buy my license until just before the season opens, that way if I cannot make it out I can just go and get an over the counter tag for one of the other seasons.
    Good luck everyone.

Are there that few turkeys or too many turkey hunters that you have to draw turkey tags. Here you can get 2 over the counter as long as one is the late season and get 2 in the fall. Or maybe you are drawing nonresident?

You only have to draw for the first two seasons. All the others are over the counter. He is applying as a resident.

I’ll be hunting season A, B, C and however many more I need to to get a bird. I am not even considering hunting with the gun this year. The Hoyt needs another turkey notch in it.

Good luck in the lottery boys!! toast

It’s a hold over from when Turkey numbers were low. Now that they are everywhere, imo, it should be included in your small game license like grouse. Good luck getting the DNR to cut off a revenue generating avenue however.

There are areas of the state where there are few if any turkeys and there are areas that are over populated with them. In general I think the state has a decent population, but not strong enough to have a completely over the counter turkey tag or multiple turkey tags, although, you can get one spring turkey and one fall turkey. A couple more winters like this one and they may open up the harvest because our population will be booming like IA, NE and WI

I’ll check in the first day of Season A for a report. Don’t freeze your broadhead off.

I may be out there as well, if I don’t draw a tag, I might go crazy and pick up the bow.

Sticker get it done with the bow. At least this way you don’t have a choice between stick n string or smoke pole.
