    Hi,

I need to pick up a few spinnerbaits for my daughter to fish smallies with, but I prefer the closed loop style for a number of reasons. I seem to have a hard time finding them other than Northland tackle, and they do not have a 1/2 double willow style.

    Any suggestions ?

    Thanks for your time.

Very easy to alter an open loop style bait.
    (A) take braid line and wrap the open end of the loop making multiple wraps much line tying off a fly tying job.
    (B) take some solid copper wire, make a few wraps, then solder the copper wire to secure

Wayzata Bait makes their own closed loop spinnerbaits and are selling them right now 3 for $10. Lots of colors avail, variety of blades or they’ll make them how you want. I have a ton of them and they work great…

Thanks, too bad you cannot order from Wayzata online, as they are way on the other side of town.

Just drop a split ring over the open loop and tie off on the opposite side of the split ring.

    Paulski,
This is what I’ve used for a number of years.
get a 1 or 2 feet of aquarium air supply plastic tubing.
It is about 1/8″ dia, or a hair larger.
Use scissors or your filet knife and perpendicular to the tubing,
cut off small pieces, like an 1/8 long. These look like little donuts.
and easily slip over the R bend on ALL spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.
When the tube is in place, then clip on your leader.
If you tie line direct to the lure then don’t worry it, that won’t slip.
ABout a foot of tubing will make almost a 100 rings.

I bite off a narrow piece of plastic grub, worm whatever and just slip it over same as Jack does.

MMM. Tasty. Do you prefer the Gulp or Powerbait flavor?

I use a short piece of shrink tubing, but I’ll have to give the aquarium tubing a try.
