Another tip is to actually try it before heading to the woods with it. Different climbers have different little things about them. And don’t look for a tree without bark. One dork hung a climber on an old telephone pole and got situated in the stand except for attaching his harness. As he was reaching around to get his harness cinched up the stand took a high-speed trip straight down. Fun, fun, fun.

Why do your elbows get beat up? I’ve never had that issue

“Got some age on me ,plus some weight”….catmando

This is likely the reason. The last climber I had I hugged that tree pretty darned good myself. And I have the same issues as Catman.

Are you facing the tree or away when you climb?

I always was facing the tree. Been years ago though and things may have changed.
