We fished in a club tournament this past Friday and Saturday at Clear Lake, IA. I was surprised by the bite. I haven’t fished there in ten or so years and only on hard water catching several 10-12″ fry. My partner for the Tourament was Trent S. and prefishing he caught a 25″er we caught several 22’s using a lindy no snag slide sinker with lindy rigs for crawlers. On Saturday, the day of the tournament, we caught several legal fish but nothing over 20″s using the same technique. We also caught several yellow bass and bullheads. Several people where running planner boards with Rapalas and doing quite well also. Water temp was 67-69 degrees. I was very impressed with the amount and quality that this lake put out. Thanks for a great tournament by the Cedar Valley Walleye Club and Matt V., good choice for a lake in Iowa. Pictures to be posted later today.

Glad to hear you were pleasantly surprise since your last trip to Clear Lake. The big ones are there but you have to go through a lot of littler ones to get them.

So is the bite still on? How much rain did ya’all get in Cerro Gordo county? The weather down here in Cedar Falls wouldn’t put off the fish, but if you guys got a bunch of rain, that might put them off a bit. I caught a bunch of yellows last Saturday too. How’s that bite going? I’m not looking for secrets, just some general info.

Probably not much walleye talk on here the next couple week, the classic is this weekend and I think the IOWA is next weekend.
