Fished Clear Lake this weekend and the yellow bass are moving in shallow to start their spawning. With a pair of waders and concentrating around the rocky lake structures fishing these yellows should remain very good for the next several weeks. The good thing about yellow bass is that they are pretty good eating and well as a lot fun to catch on an fly rod or ultralite spinning rod.

I went out sunday afternoon and hammered the yellow bass. I caught them on a white 2″ twister tail. I was fishing the north shore in shallow water. Boy,can they fight for their size!

I am heading to the lake on Friday 6/2 and was wondering how the yellow bass are biting? Are they still shallow or have they moved out deeper? Thanks.

I hate to tell you this, but I am pretty sure the 90 degree weather put the yellow spawn behind us. Friday fishing was OK and by sunday it was just plain bad. You could try the shallows but drifting across the lake would probably be more productive.
