Joe anything starting to happen at Clear yet? The fall bite must gonna be awesome as slow as the summer bite has been. I haven’t been up there for over a month I called Jim a couple times and he has always told me things are slow. I can’t believe the yellows have been so slow all summer.

    Thanks Joe!

I appoligize for not having no feild reports but Jim is right its been ugly I have heard of a few yellows and cats there is a ton of food in lake right now. I hope to try this weekend mainly targeting yellows. I hope to have enough for a feild report but I will report either way

I fished Clear Lake today mostly pulling shad raps. After 5 hours only thing to show was 2 Yellows and 2 short Walleyes. Talked to a couple that managed to get 14 Yellows on minnow and spinner. I tried jigging Leech and Night Crawlers, but nothing. Dome Bait was closed till 10:30 so didn’t use minnows. The lake is real green right now not very clear. Jim if you go, hope you do better.

My wife and I went to Clear Lake last Wednesday. She was using cranks and I minnows. I’m embarrased to say we got skunked. Seen alot of people trying but only saw one caught.

Panfish, I see you are from Blairsberg which I believe is about 30 miles from Fort Dodge where I was born. Have you ever fished below the dam on the Des Moines River in Ft. Dodge. I buddy of mine use to fish there and caught northerns and eyes too I believe. I have heard him mention Brushy Creek several times too as being a good place to fish.

Joe, hows the panfish bite for crappies and gills on Clear Lake?

    Thanks, Bill

Bill I fished the both the little and big damns this spring in Ft.Dodge. If I remember right I caught 2 decent eyes this spring at the big damn. (it can get crowded)I haven’t been over yet this fall. A friend from work went Tuesday with no luck

Brushy is a excellent little lake. I don’t fish it much out of the boat I’m not a sit still kind of guy. You DON’T troll Brushy unless you have an endless supply of gear. You can be in 50 FOW and have a tree sticking out of the water right next to you. Brushy is an excellent ice fishing lake. The last two winters have been a little tough the whole lake hasn’t had safe ice on it so everyone is pushed into a smaller area. Brushy has eyes up to 10 lbs crappie up to 16 inches lots of nice 8-10 inch gills and every once in a while you’ll hit a 12-13 inch perch. It also has a very strong LM population and very good channel cats. It has been stocked with Muskie also not alot of people fish them but fish over 40 inches have been caught.

The structure you just decribed explains very well why the fish are so nice as its tougher to fish and catch them. But it sounds like when you do you get some really nice ones.
    Thanks, Bill
