This early it’s really going to depend heavily on water temperature. My experience has been that pre-spawn walleyes have been best fishing the narrows and Ventura bay. I’ve done best with slip bobbers and minnows, but a few years ago the GNWC winners were pulling cranks in 3′ of water up in the bay by the inlet.
Post spawn fish? Well, I tend to drift the main basin with a jigging rod in one hand and a bouncer/spinner rig on a slop rod. I drift from across the point on Pelican island in about 10 feet of water and into the main lake basin. The majority of the fish I’ve caught doing this were roaming the main basin.
Yellows were everywhere last year, I would start in Ventura bay on the South point.
