Clear water strategies

    Hey guys,
Looking for ideas on how to target walleye in really clear water.
As of now I have been trying to either fish low light conditions or fish in wind. Setting up a bobber just seems hard to really pin down a spot on a weed line

Looking for thoughts/strategies of what people are trying especially related to lakes that have weeds that run really deep (25 feet) and mess up your lindy rigs every minute pulling through the weeds.

Should a guy throw plastics instead in the weeds? You hear of bass guys catching walleyes at times in the thick stuff.

    thanks guys

Depends on the lake, Mille Lacs is super clear but can be good all day. I fish a lot of clear lakes in the Park Rapids area and generally fishing at night is your best option, or during the day with overcast sky’s and a good walleye chop. This time of year there’s usually not much for weeds, so it’s less of a factor imo. Once the weeds are up if you can find a good definitive weed line Lindy’s can still be effective. Long line trolling can be a good option too as getting the baits out away from the boat seems to help.

Try ditching the lindy rig for a bottom bouncer with spinner or slow death. The bouncer will cut through most of the weeds, and you’ll foul up a lot less. Or run crankbaits 2-3 feet above the weed tops.
