Does anyone have any tips or tricks on cleaning out the carbs on your ice augers? I have an old strike master magnum 49cc and it needs a good cleaning. Most places charge around 70 bucks to clean them and well I’m cheap haha. So any help would be appreciated.

If you are not looking to take the carburetor apart, then I would use Sea Foam spray which should help to get it clean. Also, a little Seafoam in the gas to help clean the internal parts of the carb.

You should be able to buy an entire new carb for less than $40 and slap that on. I’m seeing under $20 some places. Or, YouTube has rebuild videos you can follow.

I was thinking the same thing.

Ive watched a few of the videos on YouTube and seems like you just have to be careful in what parts you take off.

Nhamm thanks for the info, I’m going to try that out first.

I did mine last year and I am not very mechanically inclined, biggest thing is line the parts up on a tray in the order you take them out and if you are going to clean it might as well spend 15 bucks and get the whole kit and new fuel lines. it may need to be cleaned but it also may have other issues, would suck to clean the whole thing just to find out you need the kit anyways.

Probably will need a new diaphragm gasket, this acts like the fuel bowl on a small carburetor.

Well I got it running by taking off the air filter and spraying some cleaner directly into the carb. But now I have 2 problems with it, 1. I noticed that its leaking fuel from the bottom of the carb or it appears to be the bottom. Not sure if I should just buy a whole new one. 2. When the auger runs the blade turns without me pressing on the gas. Is that an easy fix?
