Clam plate mod

    My winter buddy had an older style clam plate for me. When picking it up he mentioned another WB added a spring to make a trigger return. My current plate requires a push-pull action most the time. Before I put the drill on, I added a small compression spring from a screen door mechanism and hose clamp. It’s sweet, 100% pull.

    Both of mine are 2nd gen plates and require chuck removal. Gen 3 might disengage more readily with the changed trigger assembly, that makes sense.

    I have the very first model of the Clam drill plate and have never had an issue with disengaging. I make sure not to over tighten that nut holding the metal flap that engages/touches the trigger
