Buy otters, eskimos, frabils, just get them the same length or longer and cut them. If the holes don’t line up the hyfax should cover the old holes, or epoxy the holes after the hyfax is on.

cross country skis work great and you only need two.

And skis only cost about $6 at Goodwill, the Salvation Army Store, etc. and you’re supporting local charities.

    Here’s a plan I have.
I got a pair of skis from a buddy, and I have an old Lazy-Boy chair that I’m thinking of taking the mechanical pieces that raise the foot rest out. Mount the skis to them and bolt to the sled with the handle on the inside. This should raise the sled about six inches and hopefully pull like a dream.

    I like that idea…

Send us pics once the project is complete.

I could use a good laugh and I truly believe its a good idea. Make sure you patent it!

Maybe I should have kept it quiet Ken! I’ll post pics for sure.

It’s been a while since I have read it but I do recall on a different site some guy got pvc pipe material that is flat. He was able to heat it to curve on his sled. The material is like 1/2″ thick so he counter sunk the screws in. I think he’d had said they had been on for a few years and not even down to 75% towing behind a snowmobile. A little extra effort required but I have to imagine it would last significantly longer.

I buy a few of those red high impact plastic kids snowboards from menards after Christmas when they put them on sale. They wear like iron and slide very easy, in fact so easy a Honda Foreman could pull it.

I went to Menards and bought some 5/8 x 1 1/2 pvc trim and it works like a charm. $25 and its held up. I used a heat gun to mold it into the shape of the sled. I found that it’s not necessary to counter sink the bolt bolts. Tighten them up until they sink.
