I realize that CJS is not the only ice fishing manufactor, but I do believe they have some of the hottest ice fishing baits in the industry. Now is the time to order, ice will be here soon and nothing worse than not having enough of your favorite lure… What is everyone ordering? Gill Pills? Diamond jigs? Slender spoons? Go Devils? Do you have enough plastics?

For me I had to stock up on the new Gill Pills and Diamond Jig colors, Orange Tiger and Bumblebee, and replenish whatever toothy critters stole from me last year. Don’t wait til the last minute.

Nothing I use on the ice takes a beating to the supply on hand like those 1/16 oz. slender spoons. Crappies and gills love them. Pike think they’re scoobie snacks.

I too am a big fan of CJS. For the last few years I have been using the Diamond Jig and Gill Pill almost exclusively for all my panfishing. I will have to get a order in for the new colors as well. I did see a jig by Northland tackle that I may have to give a try this ice season. It is called a Hexi Fly. I really like some of the colors. It is said to produce 2X the signal on sonar units. I will have to at least give them a try.

Dont forget those Ratsos and Shrimpos. Fantastic crappie baits and no meat needed most days.

I like the silver-bodied spoons the best and I’ve had my better days on silver-red. silver/blue and silver-chart. More often than not I start with silver/blue.

Cal-You put me over the top, I have been on the fence as far as if I was going to get enough stuff to put a order in. 20 or 30 minutes later and I took a look at the order I had compiled and came to the conclusion that I need another Rose Creek not to mention that my bank account is $127.45 lighter.

These little spoons work remarkably well on pannies. Particularly on bigger fish in a school. I seem to be able to weed out the little guys so my average size is much, much better than when I fish a small jig and bait.

Typically if I’m fishing gills I’ll need to put a couple spikes or a waxie on these small spoons to get them to commit. Not always, but I would say that’s the case most of the time. Crappie and perch will often hit them when fished without livebait but it doesn’t hurt to scent them up either. I would say 80% of the time I’m tipping them with a couple red spikes.

I prefer a bit of bait and a CJS Wedgee

This little piece of plastic works wonders when rigged horizontally on the smallest of slender spoons for big panfish. The smallest jigging twitch makes that tail come alive. While the spoons tend to select for larger fish in the system, you’ll still lose your spikes from time to time. That said, these are more than just “backup-bait,” as it’s great to fish these when the gills are really smashing it. No re-baiting means you’re back to the fish more quickly before the school moves on. For a full pack it’s $1.50 and the cheapest attractant I can find for about any spoon I fish.
