Caught him yesterday on pink/wht. glow draggin jig(never lost a jig since I started using drag.jigs) & stuart problue ringworm. He followed my worm to about 3ft from shore and struck it right when I caught sight of him I thought I was gonna lose him..he must’ve been really hungry measured at 18in. He’s not a monster but I’m glad I landed one the walleye has eluded my line for over a year so it feels good..yeah it does
(pics are from my phone today..took pics yesterday but can’t find my camera )

Congratulations on the first walleye I have to warn you though—they are addictive. Your year is off to a heck of a good start—first walleye and it is only February!

Fantastic. Hope you catch many more. This time of year those walleyes like to come in shallow right at dark and first thing in the morning. If you get on the right spot you might get a flurry of action. Last night draggin jigs most of my fish came from with in casting distance of shore.

Not sure if i have seen that walleye recipe before. At first glance it looked like nothing more than putting it in the pan was done. What did you top it with?

Congrats! I will quite often knock all the paint off my draggin jigs before I lose them. That pink really works well in murky water.

Thanks guys..I was starting to think that I had a better chance of hooking a sturgeon

I baked it first then topped it off with coconut cream sauce, onions and salt to taste..yumm

I almost hate to ask but did you scale the fish? Hope you understand but I think most of us mid westerners dont see a lot of whole baked fish. I know it is very normal else where. Pretty neat to see. Might have to try it.

I’ll add to Mike’s post, care to share that entire recipe? From the cleaning to the table?

    Thanks,

scale and gut it..rinse well to get most of the slime off
bake it as you would any fish, salt/pepper(your preference),when fish is
about 3/4 cooked then add coconut cream onions and salt to taste(careful not to add too much salt)taste as you add.
in saucepan simmer coconut cream onions salt til onions almost cooked.

after adding cream to the fish bake it til it thickens.
I don’t cook much so I don’t measure or time anything

1 of the reasons I don’t keep walleye from the mississippi is because I can’t make them taste good Think I now have a new recipe to try. Thanks

Congrats on first walleye. Can I ask where you were fishing? Ice or open water? We have crappy ice and very little open water here. I gotta get some draggin jigs. Tight lines.
