Christmas Decorating

I normally decorate for Christmas around the first weekend in December and it was very important to me that I maintain this tradition this year. So I got the ladder out of the garage yesterday and hauled the red and green boxes down from the attic (ladders suck! BTW). And while I changed the locations of some decorations, my living room and dining room are now full of Christmas cheer! Tree is up, stockings are hung, my mini Lego sets are set up on their usual shelf, advent wreath has new candles. And this year I decided to upgrade the hat for my deer mount in the living room. His old santa hat was kinda cheap, so I placed Billy’s Santa hat on him instead in honor of my sweet Billy (top left of the collage). Billy was so cooperative with all this Christmas crap and would even humor my by wearing a big fluffy santa hat to celebrations. I’m sure it was a favor to me, but also so that he didnt have to style his hair. smirk

There are thousands of Christmas decorations in nearly every store so the variety is amazing to see! I would love to see your decorations if you’d like to share, post them here. Happy December everyone. santa

Be careful on the ladder Sharon!

Your collage says a lot about how you treasure the Christmas spirit.

I used to do the front of the house and yard with lots of lights. Our birch has three trucks and each would get wound with light while the limbs would get strings and lighted ornaments. The ceiling of the porch still has hooks [forty of them] where I’d hang colored lighted balls in various sizes leaving just enough room to get the front door open and allow people to get to the sidewalk. Carole would do the inside up in grand fashion. Then the kids grew up and met their loves and started doing Christmas their own way and slowly what we did fell by the wayside. A couple health issues delivered the coup de gras to outside Christmas decorating and so ended that era for us, but Carole has a couple expensive nativities that she sets out each year but hasn’t gotten to them yet.

You have a Merry Christmas with your families Sharon and know that prayers are still being said for you and for Billy.

Not much for Christmas decorating the house but this is a good reminder to get the boat decorations out. Santa loves big walleyes as much as anyone.

Wife has the upstairs done. Nothing down here in the basement except this old fat guy. Christmas is for kids and I don’t get to wound up until the week before Christmas.
The snow is adding to the Christmas feeling though.

Good for you Sharon to keep the tradition going and to stay positive.

We went big this year…. kids helped me cut down a tree on Friday over 12 ft tall. Decorating in process right now

I felt compelled to do some decorating on the chriatmas tress at my farm. Simple white balls seem to really stand out on the deep green of the white pines….and some people think im a redneck hick… doah

Lindyrig79, that tree is HUGE! I love it! Our tree is smaller and sits in the bay window. But this year I didn’t want to move Billy’s aloe vera plant so the tree fits nicely on the coffee table. It was sad to decorate without my sweet Billy this year and I almost talked myself out of it. But my mom already bought me the candles for my Advent wreath, so I wanted to at least put that out on the table… then as I was rummaging through the boxes one thing lead to another, and boom! Christmas is all over my living room and dining room. And I’m very glad I took the time to do it. Keep the decoration photos coming!

Thanks! It’s the biggest tree we’ve ever had.

Also, agree with Ron’s post above smile

Well I took the Christmas decorations down this morning. It always bums me out how quickly the season goes by. The living room and dining room look kinda empty now, but at least things are cleaned at dusted! 😊🧹🏠
