Matt Ryan, going on 36 years of age with statistics dropping

Falcons Front Office on the phone:

“Matty – Let’s get you a 6’6″ 245# TE that runs faster than most WRs at the top of the draft to pair with Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. He makes this offense elite and we trust you can carry us.”

Aaron Rodgers, 37 years old and coming off another MVP

Packers Front Office on the phone:

“Aaron Buddy – We’ve got our eyes on a couple undrafted TE’s and practice squad WRs that we think you could make into pro bowlers. Please consider restructuring your contract as a way of saying thank you for our efforts. We’ve got to go, Jordan Love is on the other line wondering if he will get to wear shoulder pads this year. See ya’ soon! Go Pack Go”

100% agreed Bucky. Gutey seems to follow the Ted Thompson tree of minimal free agent activity and drafting where you’re slotted.

As for Rodgers Valuation, the 9ers supposedly offered Jimmy G, #3 overall (they picked Lance), the following years #1 and a bunch of lower round picks, and Gutey hung up on em. I don’t think a better offer is coming now that they have no leverage.

You couldn’t be further from the truth on all accounts. Gutenkist signed 4 major free agents two years ago in the Smith brothers Adrian Amos and Billy Turner for a combined 170 million. He has since focused on his own free agents and signed Bahkitari, Aaron Jones, and Kenny Clark. All top players at there respective positions. All these moves have garnered two 13-3 seasons.

Furthermore he has traded up for key first round picks Jaire Alexander the best shut down corner in the NFL last year and safety Darnell Savage. Along with Rashan Gary who he didnt trade up to get.

Also the year the packers drafted Alexander they traded down with new Orleans and got a future 1st round pick that became Savage. Then he traded back up and got Alexander.

All these players have proven to be good if not great signings and picks.

If a 37 year old quarterback is gonna be a little girl and cry because he didn’t get informed about a player drafted at his position then thin skinned boy should go play for a team who isn’t trying to win it all and using every resource to have a competitive team every year.

Well said. The Packers have been a well run and very successful organization for a long time. Hence the reason why this recent drama is so delightful.

Now the million dollar question will be will the packers still be 13-3 and perennial contender with Jordan love running the show? The answer is no. If they go 0-13 with the best QB in the world in his prime the odds don’t get better with a lesser talented rookie

I’m sure you will enjoy the ride. Funny thing is when Favre had his drama everyone wanted to hang Thompson even though Favre was the one pushing the retirement button until he pushed it one to many times. Once again it seems an ego driven athlete thinks he can run the team.
It’s an nfl problem with Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson etc. etc.
The Packers will survive with or without Rodgers.

Maybe, or maybe it will be like the 20+ years pre-Favre where they won 10 games twice. My point was that Gutey came in traded up, and signed pivotal free agents right away which got them to the NFC Championship (where they got destroyed by the 9ers), and then did nothing to try and get over the hump. Somehow Rodgers got them back to the NFC Championship, where they failed again, and AGAIN Gutey does nothing to get over the hump. So Rodgers is rightfully upset, and I’m here for all of it.

On paper, I thought Gutes did well since coming in as well. Some big names. But, no production. All those names on Defense and they ended up middle of the pack ranked defense in 2020. All that, and did nothing to help Rodgers on offense, except draft a QB “to light a fire in him”, what?!?

I don’t know how Love will turn out, nor does anyone else for that matter, but odds say he will not work out. GB has gotten complacent, team and fans, spoiled by having Favre and Rodgers back to back. My guess, they will pay for that and struggle at QB for a long time, just like most other teams. Franchise QB’s are so rare, especially Superbowl winning franchise QB’s.

Being a traditional, conservative team with a goal of winning the Division every year, is not endearing, especially to a QB with the intelligence and skills of Rodgers.

The Vikings, well they will never in a Superbowl with Cousins, and they are stuck with him for 2 more years. They should draft a QB every year, hoping to hit on one sooner or later. Just hope they don’t regret passing on Mac Jones and letting him go to New England.

That is my thought too. Without a hall of famer at QB, they’re just like every other team in the league that is lacking at the position. Just look at the couple of seasons when Rodgers got hurt as a recent example.
