well after doing some more reading, looks like the Packers really can’t afford him and keep a competitive team too.I would hate to see him go, but you can’t keep a car you can’t afford to drive.no doubt the front office made way too many mistakes, but seems to me too many contracts are made and not lived up to now days too.
he’ll be gone after june, it won’t cost the packers as much in dead money as it would if they traded him now.

Nowadays the monster contracts QB’s are signing are crippling their teams. It’s happening with Cousins in MN too. Rodgers can’t want all the money in the world and still expect them to sign everyone he wants.

I have nothing against the team, I’m not a Packer-hater from MN, I’ve just disliked Rodgers for years. Complete d-bag on the field, his body language is always whining and blaming others. He’s been such a diva behind the scenes the last few years, and he acts like he’s the only guy to ever maybe not get the absolute best supporting cast. Other than Michael Thomas, who has Drew Brees had for elite WR’s? Brady has never had great receivers (until TB) he just made them really good. Having Adams, Jones, and a decent O-line is something a lot of guys would really like to have. I hope his “unhappiness” leads him to a garbage team and he can evaluate how green their grass truly is. Look at a guy like Jarod Goff-goes from a decent playoff team in years past to the Lions, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. What do you think it’s like for him Listening to poor A-Rodg complain about his unhappiness? What realistic possibilities exist that would actually make Rodgers happy?

Now a report came out that Rodgers is thinking about retiring. I really dont know what to believe but I think the Packers will make him happy and sign him to a longer contract that he wants.

    Rodgers is completely over-rated.
Everything came together and his team won a super bowl.
I’ll go out on a limb and say Rodgers doesn’t win another one.
He will fall short of greatness. Eli won two, he must be super great?

Pretty sure Rodgers is under contract til 2023. Honor your contract and play , or shut up and sit out, Packers move on . He’s far too arrogant to sit out and not be in the spotlight.

If he retires, he would actually owe the Packers $11.5 million each year for the 2 remaining years on his contract. Rumor has it that he would rather do that than continue playing with Green Bay. This is getting really ugly. The relationship between him and upper mgmt must be toxic.

i don’t know Dutch, Mr. Rodgers has made more money than he could ever need. he could easily walk away from that knowing real well what his worth is. he could easily retire, leave that money on the table and come back in 2022 for another team and get close to 30 mill. if he does, then he did learn something from his buddy Brett.
i think Arodge is the smartest QB in the league and i am a big fan of him but not of the green and yellow. wake me if im dreaming but what if he retires and does jeopardy for a year then comes back in purple to spite the team? will there be riots in GB?

Vikings are having a great draft! We are taking players at positions of need that are also great value picks

And sure enuf the Packers played to the draft strengths and drafted a new starting center and a slot receiver. I like it when I’m right! The draft is 3 for 3 for this guy

    LOL!

You could have said the same thing if they would have taken a DE, LB, OT..

I’m referring to my post earlier in this thread after the first round and before the 2nd specifically with what they did with those next two picks:

“The Packers have the best wr in the league, one of the best running backs, a very good tight end, two all pro offensive linemen. Rodgers has protection and plenty of weapons. The draft is not decided in the first round and the depth of the draft plays into there needs on offense- wide receiver and o-line depth. I sure they’ll do just fine’

For anyone with a lack of interest going into today because many of the top prospects and flashy picks are gone:

According to Field Yates (ESPN I believe?), 66% of players on NFL rosters in 2020 were drafted in the 4th round or later.

It may not be immediate, but a lot of guys taken today will be on the field a lot in the coming years. Plus, once the 7th round ends, the undrafted free agent signing spree is always fun too.

Hey Rick Spielman don’t you have something else to do today. Like try and acquire 12 7th round picks. I don’t think you should be posting how great you are in a fishing forum.

Waste of a pick drafting that QB IMO. If you’re taking a developmental QB, do it in the 4th at least.
Hey at least the Peckers finally got ARodge a receiver…..must be a brother from another mother. Last name spelled same too! This must be a weak attempt to get him to stay.🤔

I speculate what the Packers would get for Rodgers? What would a return for the reigning MVP, super bowl MVP, perennial all pro be.

What did the rams give for Stafford like 3 number 1’s
What would the packers get in return?

Not at all similar scenarios. The lions got a bunch of picks in return for taking on a bad QBs massive salary.

I’m sure GB could expect somewhere in the ballpark of 3 #1 picks from some teams. Things going against him:

    1 – he’s a diva with a bad attitude
    2 – he’s 37
3 – he’s gonna wanna get a new contract and be paid as the top QB in the league

Some teams would still certainly be willing to make a deal. If Watson didn’t have his legal trouble he would command a lot more in a trade

I could only see a team wanting to go in NOW and willing to suck 3-6 years from now. I’m not necessarily will suck in a few years, but they went and got Brady and have spent some money to win now and hey, why not? They won it all and should be in the mix for it next year.

A team like the 49ers would’ve worked before they drafted Lance. He’d be a good fit for a team that’s annually in the upper-level mix but not quite there. Kind of like the Packers, but…..

Value-wise geez 3 or more years of 1st round picks and maybe more? It’d be worth it, but I don’t think the market for him is that right now because of him being a d-bag. Wanting to win and being competitive but who in a new lockerroom would want to risk dropping a pass of his on national TV and getting the death stare?

I honestly wish the Packers would’ve just loaded up on WR’s for years and then signed guys from the XFL as lineman since they couldn’t afford better, let him get smacked game after game and maybe realize it’s more than flashy WR’s that need to build that team.

Erin will need to retire because there won’t be a return available for him via trade. 1st thing the Packers would need is a starting quarterback. 2nd thing they would need is a team Erin would go to. Presumably that would need to be a winning team that only needed a quarterback upgrade in their minds. That team the 1st round picks wouldn’t be worth squat because the team would be picking at the end of the 1st round. Then of course you have to deal with the money.

If Guety is anything like his old man he is extremely hardheaded. It won’t be easy for Erin to force a trade. Sitting out isn’t a possibility either if the Packers are willing to eat the money to make a statement.

Only thing for sure…..the soap opera will be a great watch this summer heading towards training camp.

I would say the base is 6 1’s, 6 2’s and 6 3’s for draft compensation. Plus a few good players

The Pack should’ve drafted a kicker in the first round in preparation for the next NFC championship.
Aaron could’ve handed him the new jersey Sporting the #1
