Fishing is slow on Chisago. I was out Saturday afternoon. All I caught was 3 sunfish and about 5 tiny perch. I only fished 4 hours and left before the sun started setting. You will find some crappies around sunset. I just do not think they are biting like they were a few weeks ago.
However, one of these days fishing should pick up again.

    Derek,

This is a little dated, but I took my six year old daughter out the Thursday before last in front of the hospital (South Lindstrom) and had a ball. It was only her second time ice fishing and she did very well for herself, cathching 18 crappies and missing another 6-8 in about 2 1/2 hours. The only help from dad was baiting and taking fish off…she did the rest on her own. Could only keep one line down for the first hour and a half and then it slowed significantly. The majority of the fish were between 8.5-9.5″…not monsters, but not runts either. Fished over 28 FOW and consistently marked fish 1-5 feet off the bottom (most active were those that were highest up) using a small glow in the dark jig with a red spot/reverse hooked crappie minnow. Not sure who was more proud…my daughter or me! I do know this…for a school project last week, she listed fishing with dad as her favorite outdoor activity .

More recently, a buddy was out there this past Thursday and they picked up eight. Said they marked fish, but found them to be neutral to negative…may have had something to do with being caught between the two Alberta Clippers.

    Good luck!

    Jim
