I ended up getting out on Saturday and ended up getting into some nice fish.
We fished from ~10-3, with the best fishing coming around 12.
We ended up catching fish on multiple different baits but by far the best lure was a double Colorado spinnerbait slowed rolled. (Mick also got fish on Small 5-7 foot crank (firetiger), Rapala deep diving crank (big fish of the day, firetiger), drop shop, and jig) The key for us was to find small flats close to the shorelines. We basically would work the shallow side first and then hit the break. The bigger fish all seem to come on the outside edges though. Once we caught one fish we would pepper the area looking for their buddies and would usually get a couple more to hit.
The size of the fish was impressive, with only one being less than two pounds and the rest where in the 2.5-4 lbs mark. All the fish where very fat (see picture) and would just hammer the bait. It made is easier to stay out there when the wind started to blow.
Water temps where in the 47-49 degree range.
We tried fishing the wood but didn’t pull anything, I think if we would have had sun that day, the fish would have been really on it.
I am hoping to get out there again soon.
