Just wondering if anyone familiar with this area can tell me how soon there would be an open boat launch and some open water to mess around with a boat. Not fishing.

I see the dnr map shows there are boat landings above and below the lake, but I have never been to them.

We have been putting in boats on the chippewa for 3 weeks now and water testing them. We cleared the ramp right behind hobbs and have been using it. It is shallow around there but there is room to get up on plane once you find the deep water.

We have launched a WX2190 there so most any size boat should fit.

    Eric:

I can’t remember exactly where Hobbs is, but Hobbs is downstream of the Wissota area though isn’t??? But it does make sense that the Chip is running down stream of the downtown area…

I don’t know where hobbs is either. Is that in chippewa falls?

It is Downtown Eau Claire. Its off of water street. Hobb’s Ice arena.

That is the only usuable landing that I know of right now.

I live about 1/2 mile west of the junction of the Chippewa River and Lake Wissota. It is locked up pretty tight right now, and will be for several weeks yet. The first boat landing to open up will be the Anson Park Landing on the South edge of Jim Falls off CTH S.
