    I have a chance to fish the Chippewa Flowage southeast of Hayward Wisconsin in a couple of weeks. We will be based in Chief Lake. I have never been in the area before and was wondering what type of structure will be holding walleyes and crappies this time of year?

    asch:

    I do know anything specifically, but read a bunch of stuff from these guys:

    http://www.tysennett.com/fishing-reports.shtml

    Once you get to his page read through his stuff, he is mainly musky related, but if you start a thread he and others will give ya help!!!

    Also, when moving around on the page note that unde the banner is a forums >fishing reports > WI fishing reports > Chippewa Flowage in grey. If you click on the link of WI fishing reports, there is another guy that posts more on walleye & other fish, I suggest you look over his page as well.

    As for where I would look right now… Channels, channels turns, both get better with wood in them, floating bogs, humps when you can find them, etc. Bait of choice is going to be leeches and crawlers…

    asch;

    I’ve had good luck for crappies around fish cribs. I usually use a 1/16th oz. tube jig, favorite colors being purple/white,pink/white, red/white,black/white. Experiment till the fish tell you what they like. You might give the cribs around pork barrel island a try. It doesn’t take much wood to hold a bunch of fish. I’d concentrate on depths of 12-17 ft. Have fun, good luck and let us know how you did.

    For walleyes try casting raps in timber/stump flats by old river channel and edges of weed flats on main basin on windy side. Slip bobber leaches on edge of floating bogs also.
