I am in the market for a new auger and I was looking into the the Strikemaster Chipper magnum 8.25″. Any pro’s/con’s to it or would you recommend a different auger? I drill probably around 20 or so holes each time.

Great auger, especially if you reopen old holes. Not as fast as a magnum with the laser blades but not slow by any means.

The chipper blade holds up better especially if drilling into dirty ice.

at 20 holes a day I would definitely go with a chipper. You will be able to “re-drill” holes from previous visits without issue and with 20 holes or so a day total you don’t need to even think about the few seconds per hole you will cut slower than a standard blade.

That chipper mag is a great auger, if your only drilling around 20 holes that is all you need. Like some of the other guys said its a little slower than the lazer but it’s plenty fast.

With my experience chipper blades tend to catch at the bottom of the holes where the Lazer blades keep going all the way through
