Looking for suggestions on rod actions/lengths, Line type and test, and lure choices that others have had success with while fishing trout and salmon on Chequamegon Bay. All info is appreciated.

For over 120′, I like the TB professional plus rods @ 42″ with smaller Abu round baitcasters and 20 lb braid. I have some 2500 size spinning setups I use with 12lb mono. For near shore I use walleye m and mh rods, pretty much setup for walleye fishing. I like to use 1.5 Oz baits deep, but you probably want to be able to go upwards of 3oz. I’ve had my best luck with meat, big smelt or flaps of herring.

Most the bigger tackle I have (beetles, current cutters), I’ve gotten locally up that way.

Depending on ice conditions, of course, We may be fishing in water that is closer to 60 feet. For that I have been putting together walleye type gear. I have several medium action rods and 1 or 2 medium heavy. Thinking I will be taking these with lures that are 1/4oz. to 5/8oz. Looks like I may have to add some heavier jig heads to fish with tubes.
I’ve always heard that lakers favor the white tubes. Do other species like them too? Do you use any rattle baits?
    I appreciate your response.
