Chequamegon Bay bite?

    We are heading up to Ashland tomorrow for our first fall smallies trip. We have fishes this in the summer but never in he fall. I have heard that it can be awesome I am really looking forward to it.

    It you have been up in the last week and have any advise please let me know.

    I’ll post our trip later this week.

    Just providing some information to you re: smallie bite on the bay. Main problem has been wind…Tough to move around the last few days. We have had a good shallow bite on crankbaits around weeds in 10 to 12 ft of water. Yesterday we were catching big fish in 4 ft of water….Fish are also using shallow side of the shipping channel edges and of course the rock pile in the middle of the bay is holding many fish as always this time of year. Had a client last week that caught between 30 and 35 smallies with one fish under 4 lbs. Hot bait last week was drop shot with 6 inch Roboworm. Some fish on jigging spoons also. The groups of big fish are starting to congregate. Water temp 55 deg. Good Luck…..Chris Beeksma
