Cheap walleye ice combo

I will be needing a new jigging rod and reel for walleye.
Trying to get by without breaking the bank.
Bigger hard water (Mille Lacs and Red).

For use with Rippin raps, Tumbler spoons, Rattlin Flyers etc.

My Accucast Ultralight 6BB has held up well for panfish, and is angled for ice rods ($19). Wondering if another one would work OK for larger fish/spoons. A guide on this forum also uses them.

Someone had suggested the Shakespeare Wild series 27 inch medium action rod $14.

I will be looking at Fleet Farm, Sportsman’s guide, Cabella’s, joes and Gander etc.

    Any suggestions?

Berkley amp rod. 14 bucks and it’s pretty decent. Then just get a real

    Thanks.
    Medium action 28 inch?
I am hesitant to go medium light because of catching 37 inchers previously on Mille Lacs (and the possibility of a large Northern).

WOW! I’d love to see a 37 incher!

Medium isn’t a bad choice. Neighbor bought a 38 inch medium and it’s pretty sweet.

I just got this 32” Fenwick Elite Ice MH from Amazon for $32.99. I really like it and am confident it can handle bigger fish easily. My primary purpose is for the iFish Pro but it would make a great jigging rod. Took it out today for its maiden voyage and put a couple sauger on the ice.

I have another rod I just got at Sportsman’s Wsrehouse, 36” Medium (I forgot the name but if I can get it I’ll let you know, Lost Creek maybe?). Pretty sure it was under $20 and I put a $30 Sienna 500 reel on it. For an inexpensive combo I really like it for a walleye jigging rod.

catching 37 inchers previously on Mille Lacs (and the possibility of a large Northern).

Multiple unofficial state records will tend to wear out rods pretty quickly.

I gotta say, I got a laugh out of the 37 incher being a likelihood, with the slight off-chance off a Northern.

Two(three) rod combo’s that will easily fit the bill

    Ugly Stick Dock Runner
    Zebco Dock Pistol
    Zebco Dock Demon

Makes me wonder why they don’t just sell these as ice fishing rods…

Shakespeare Wild series 27 inch medium action rod $14 total, delivered.

Joes Sporting Goods had a GCA800 regularly $38 for $19…
5 sealed precision stainless steel rust-resistant ball bearings
    Forged aluminum alloy spool
One-way clutch instant anti-reverse roller bearing
    Balanced rotor
    Soft-touch Inter-changeable handle knob

I have spring bobber tips for pan-fish bite detection with the medium rods.

Smooth reel and good drag. Rod worked great for walleye 15-26 inches.

Plus if the reel fails in the first year Joe’s will replace it free.
