I’m up Nort where da news travels slow. I saw where Chauvin made bail and Walzie called in the guard. Are there issues in Mpls right now or do they expect the rabble rouser crowd from Chicago & New York to show up?

Followed an all black, hand-painted box truck this morning going north on 52. Had Illinois plates. Don’t need to have a tinfoil hat to think it may be involved in some “peaceful-protests”

I wonder how our country came down to this. We get to choose those 2 people out of every one ever.

To be an American doesn’t mean you have to be a Democrat or Republican. There are more than 2 people running for president, and actually most offices for that matter.

Chauvin is innocent. What’s racist is thinking a police officer who swore an oath to serve and protect snuffed a man out in broad daylight because the cop was white and the man who died was black.

When it’s all said and done Derek Chauvin will win a lawsuit against the city of MPLas for wrongful termination/defamation of character/slander be awarded the largest settlement for punitive damages in US history. The city will be getting off easy at a hundred million. Don’t be surprised if it approaches a quarter billion.

What was done to these four men, Chauvin especially, is absolutely disgraceful.

George Floyd died from cardiopulmonary arrest due to drug overdose. He had enough fentanyl in him to kill an elephant; three times the average amount of the average overdose death. In addition he had meth, cannabis, and alcohol in his system.

Floyd was a hardened criminal who had served hard time for violent crimes. He’d been arrested well over a dozen times. He was never afraid of the police at any point of the incident.

What he was afraid of was dying. He knew he was overdosing and going to die. All the inferences made to his own mortalify weren’t directed at the police. What you’re seeing on the video is a man who is at a level of inebriation no one can even imagine what was going through his head…..because no one has ever gotten that messed up and lived to tell about it…you’re witnessing a man who is out of his mind on a lethal drug cocktail realizing his own death was imminent….and he was freaking out, and rightfully so.

He started saying, “Please, I can’t breathe,” in the back of the squad car completely untouched. This is commensurate of someone who is experiencing a fentanyl overdose. He then begs the officers to let him out so he can lay prone on the ground. The officers are compassionate towards him and allow this. I’ve been in the back of a cop car a few times and the chances of being let out before reaching the precinct for booking were nonexistent. The officers displayed a great amount of empathy.

At this point Floyd was let out, he got down and laid prone on the ground on his own accord, and then one of the officers called for paramedics. Why else would paramedics arrive at the scene of an arrest for trying pass counterfeit currencies.

I understand how bad the video looks, and think it’s an incredibly unfortunate coincidence how it looks and how misleading it is by showing what went down completely out of context. What I don’t get is why no media source thought to go, “Hey, why did an EMT show up to this random arrest scene?”

That’s not normal. Paramedics don’t show up at arrests…

…unless something changes the priority from being an arrest to trying to save a man’s life. In this case the officers recognized Floyd was overdosing and were trying to save his life. That’s the awful irony of it all. Had they actually been racists they would’ve told him to shut the eff up and proceeded back to the precinct and Floyd would’ve died on the back of a squad car with little fanfare and become nothing more than a statistic.

But the cops weren’t racist…crazy that a black guy, an Asian guy, and two white guys might not be racists….and they showed compassion to Floyd, let him out, and called in medical attention for him.

Chauvin arriving last to the scene and being the most senior officer sees Floyd get out of the squad, dropping to the ground, and laying prone, goes over and gets down and uses a knee restraint.

This is what he and every other police officer in this country has been trained to do. You can’t have a perp laying on the ground without being restrained. That’s against protocol. The reason for this is Floyd wouldn’t have been the first criminal to fake an overdose only to flee from the police with cuffs on and get away.

While Chauvin is kneeling on his neck he keeps repeating, “it takes a lot of oxygen to talk.” He’s saying this calmly and direct. Under the warped context of him being the racist cop it looks bad. Under the context of reality, he’s trying to keep Floyd calm while waiting for the paramedics to arrive with a full out public scene unfolding that is anything but calm. He’s trying to reinforce to Floyd he’s not going to die. He’s trying to help him. He’s not putting his weight into his knee that’s on Floyd and you know what? I’m convinced that Floyd was not bothered by Chauvin being on his neck in the least. Why? Because upon asking these same officers to get out of the squad car to lay prone on the ground they obliged.

Floyd could’ve and I believe would’ve asked Chauvin to get off his neck if at any point he wanted him off. I believe Chauvin would’ve once again obliged his request….

…because he was a damn good cop that cared about people and the truth is that if he didn’t none of the civil unrest we’ve seen would have ever happened.

That’s what’s beyond infuriating, pathetic, disgusting, and sad about this. Four good men have had their lives ruined because they cared enough to try to save the life a degenerate criminal who never valued his own life to begin with.

Sometimes this country makes me sick with it’s stupidity, bias, preconceived notions, hate, and vitriol. The irony that these people burning down our cities and spitting on police officers think they’re the ones with empathy when there’s more empathy, compassion, and honor in the four of them than the millions of twits who’ve eagerly been brainwashed by the media have in them combined is one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever seen.

Joneser must really need attention. A post that long on a controversial topic speaking in absolutes…on a fishing forum. Good for him?

The whole situation has a lot of issues. It is not as clear as to responsibilities, Floyd’s state, intentions, the reason for kneeling on him, etc as some want to paint it on either side of the situation. For people to assume they know every imaginable fact while posting on a fishing forum makes them look like an idiot.

    joneser,

Was Floyd a threat? 4 cops showing up to arrest a guy for a bad $20 check? You think you would be treated any different than Floyd if you were in that situation? Think about that…and you bet he is racist because he knew who Floyd was and still didn’t give a damn about this life.

First of all – Unless you are a police office don’t even start to talk about how much of a treat a person is to 1,2,4, or even 10 police officers when he’s high as a kite on drugs.

Secondly I don’t need to think how I’d be treated if I were in that situation. I’m not a multi time felon, I don’t plan to try to pass any bad 20.00 check, and I don’t have any plans to have a cocktail of drugs large enough to kill most any human being in my system.

If you on the other hand want to test your theory on the result – I say by all means GO FOR IT !!!
