which region are you fishing? if you’re in canada, navionics is it; MN/WI/Dakotas/LOTW/etc. Lakemaster it is. my friend has lakemaster plus, the only difference was the HD lakes had some aerial photography around it, wasnt worth the extra money IMO

strikemaster used to be the auger to get, seems like ion is grabbing the market now D

first thing i’d do is download the new map data file Humminbird just released for the built in map, it might be all you need… otherwise you’ll likely want the Lakemaster chip, check their website to see if the lakes you frequent are in HD…

I have the lakemaster and am very happy, the + didn’t do much for me because it only adds sat image of the shore. the smart strike intrigued me, but it only works on HD lakes. (make sure it works in a 7) so I didn’t think it was worth the extra cost since it didn’t work on all lakes I fish

The “built in” is only gps isn’t it? does it have depths and contours of some lakes also? do you hook up to a PC or can you download latest from satellite? (excuse really dumb questions!)

Lakemaster if you have a follow the contour option on your trolling motor or if you ever plan to upgrade to a TM that has that option

The “built in” is only gps isn’t it? does it have depths and contours of some lakes also? It has contours, but 10-foot contours so not real useful. Etch-a-Sketch quality. do you hook up to a PC or can you download latest from satellite? Lakemaster is a SD card that you buy. The new download from Humminbird can be found at the Humminbird site below. (They do have a website, you know. You should check it out.) It’s a painstaking process to download the data, transfer it to a SD card, then load that from the SD card to your Helix. (excuse really dumb questions!)
