Ceramic Bearings

So has anyone ever decided that since the internet exists, and they can buy stuff from it, that they should replace the bearings in their spinning reels with ceramic bearing kits? I knew replacement bearings were a thing, but thought they were mostly for high end baitcasters. Turns out you can get kits for just about anything. I’m pretty sure I’m going to try this on at least one reel, but would like to hear about others experiences. Is it even worth it in a spinning reel that is still functioning?

Just as long as they are not Chinese you might be OK.

I guess I just assumed they were all Chinese. If I can find US and China ones separate I might give them both a try, for scientific purposes and all.

There’s really no point in ceramic bearings in fishing reels. It was kind of a fad there for a while. I suppose they might last longer than steel, if you never take care of your reel. ceramic bearings are noisy too. You need to open the reel up and oil them a lot, just to keep them quiet.
