glenn elder which ido done a show last year “”giant white crappie on glenn elder”” is 7 inches west of causway but mainly wipers and whites,,, very few crappie so far…
im a walk in person cause all army corp of enginer lakes are illeagel to run any motorized vehicle on there waters how ever glenn elder is not a corp lake so its ok there thats the information i have concluded by contacting the corp and kwp..
hope to hear from others around the area too im limited to how far i can travel so a 13 mile drive is nice for me…
good fishin and stay safe ,,, im a walleyer by the way kanopolis lake is my favorite lake but i know others will disagree but thats their opinion thx kelley

I would LOVE to ice fish for Wipers. By far my favorite freshwater fish to catch. Any word on ice at Milford?

Your post jarred some memories as I was stationed at Fort Riley from 2003-2008. I absolutely LOVE Kansas. Many people did not but those were mostly the types that came from bigger cities or metro areas. When they found themselves on the Kansas plains they got bored and couldn’t find anything to do, but I loved the area.

Anyway, I never ice fished there but I did fish all weekend, every weekend on post during the summer. This was somewhat of a fisherman’s dream, because most of Fort Riley’s ponds are way back in the field training area and thus not heavily fished at all. Pond fishing in the woods/boondocks is my favorite and that’s just what Fort Riley fishing was.

well it has been really slow on kanopolis lake few and far between,, next few days of weather is going to really hurt the ice on kanopolislake,,,
heard a 40” wiper was caught at Wilson last weekend what I here is whites and stripers going good west end of lake, with lake down I have heard of striper limits coming out of 4 ft of water in elm creek area good ice there for now,,
glenn elder I have heard a few crappie now in some of the coves near the damn north side,, wipers and whites west of casway ,,, heard 8” of ice there…

just be care full after Friday we had 42 degree temps to day ( wensday) and looking at mid 50s next few days so stay safe winter is far from over here…
some one asked about milford lake I have not heard anything on this lake but would assume same type of conditions as rest of central Kansas lakes…
when I here more I will post again…kelley

Kansas does have many good lakes and they are not all that far apart as far as fishing different spieces,,, kanopolis is only 16mile to the boat dock for me so I spend most of my time there,, not saying its the best lake around but by far a great producing walleye and saugeye lake along with very nice sized whites and cat fish,,,was trolling which I hate to do but was experimenting a few new lures and caught a 65 lb flat head wow what a fight on light tackle … I go as often as I can when I can and its not always about catching a fish its about being out in the great outdoors,,,besides I study my depth finder alot and in all the years I have fished kanopolisi learn more every time I go,, thx kelley

What part of Kanopolis did you guys fish on. Nice pics and some great fish. Fished Glen Elder today on the west end. It was pretty spotty with pretty slow fishing reports overall.
