Cell Phone Booster or Antenna on LOW

I was wondering if any of you have any experience with boosting their wireless coverage on Lake of the Woods or other remote lakes.

I take out an ice castle up to lake of the woods and other lakes and would like to work mobile a few days up there using cellular and hotspot. But sometimes we are 15-20 miles out on a lake road with no to very little cell phone service. I was wondering if there is a booster or antenna that is reasonably priced to take up there with me.

    Thanks

A repeater will only boost a signal that is good to start with. If you are outside your shack and you can get internet and cell signal then a repeater would help inside your shack if you loose the signal when inside. A repeater will not make a signal that is not there appear.

i haven’t used one at LOW, but up at our property in Pine County we couldn’t get any signal at our camp, i bought an Amazboost put it on a telescoping flag pole and got a good sginal, enough to stream video. We would get an intermittent signal while hunting but nothing great. Got the amazboost for $70 on Amazon, flag pole for $90 money well spent.

something like this would probably work. I have something similar on my home and it’s the only way I can get signal in my house during the summer. Pretty much point the antenna at the nearest tower, and because it’s such a big antenna compared to your phone, it can pick up more signal.

Would it really make a difference either way? I’ve never had issues with GETTING signal (mileage will vary based on carrier) but the bigger problem, especially with a situation like yours would be CAPACITY. It’s why even though I get great signal on a lake like Red, I still have utterly no data for use to run the internet, streaming etc… There’s just too many people in one area trying to use the same data “hose” as it were. It always gets better as folks drop off for the night.

We get lucky and watch movies while we camo up there. Same with rainy river at night
