So it looks like no… Is there a way for a wi resident to carry in mn?

Get a MN Permit. You do not need to be a resident.

Yes a WI resident needs a MN permit AND a WI permit to carry in both states.
The reason MN doesn’t recognize WI is because WI doesn’t require live fire in it’s training.

A MN resident may carry in WI on the MN permit.

I’ve been arranging classes on the MN/WI border for a number of years now.
I need 10 folks for class, prepaid (so everyone shows up).
We’ve been holding them at the Bluff’s Bar and Grill in Hager City and shooting at a location a few miles out of town.

I have some folks waiting for the next class but I only have 5 people at this time.

Brian, add me to the list. I need to renew my MN permit by May of 21.

Could you please tell me why MN doesn’t recognize Nebraska’s permit? We have live fire in our training, 8 hour course.

Thanks Brian. Do you have a date set? It’s hard to commit without a date set. I could say yes and prepay but without knowing the date I cannot. Thanks.

Prepayment not required until date location is set. I just toss it out there to check on interest.

If you have an interest shoot me a pm and assuming we have enough people, I’ll get the details to all.

Cost is $65 and your ammo.

It’s a Mn carry class that will cover Wi. Nebraska? No clue. Lol! I don’t make the laws, lucky for us all.

Wisconsin’s requirements are poor if you ask me. To get my CC all I had to do is send:

    – a completed form
    – a copy of the Wisconsin Hunter’s Safety Certificate I received when I completed the course — in 1975
    – $50

My renew was just send $.

Why is that poor. Heck, I don’t believe we need to get fingerprinted to carry a concealed firearm or have to take a course.

I have a class set up at the Bluff’s in Hager City on Sunday, Sept 27th @ 10:00 am.
Classroom lasts until around 11:30 depending, then we generally have a lunch on your own if you wish. Lot’s of good conversation/questions get answered at this time. Then it’s to an off site location about 4 miles away for the live fire.

The day of class you need a handgun and no more then 21 rounds along with your drivers license.

The certified instructor isn’t too concerned if you hit the target or not, it’s more about how you safely handle your weapon. In fact, we all use the same target.

Prior to class I’ll need your name as is appears on your drivers license emailed to me @ [email protected] .

The $65. can me mailed or use paypal/credit card.

Again, this is a MN Carry class that will cover WI (and other states as well). To clarify, a WI resident will need the MN AND WI permit to carry in both states.

A MN resident will just need their MN permit to carry in MN/WI and many other states.

I agree mostly. Finger prints are not taken, but until the law changes, we have to attend a class.

…but I will go on to say there are some that >need< classroom. IMHO.

Thanks Brian. Another question, the class I signed up for states 5 hours. The one you list is 1.5 hours? I assume it’s range time taking up the additional hours? Thanks.

Yes, roughly 1.5 hours, not counting the live fire.
Normally we start at 10 am and finish around 2 pm.

I haven’t taken an online class but it seems that since a person has to go someplace for the live fire, they might as well go in for the classroom as well.

I always look forward to the lunch time. There’s so many good questions and war stories told that I think it’s the best part. But different stroke for different folks. )

Yeah not sure how it works either. I would have asked to attend your class, but I will be duck hunting that weekend.

I had the MN class and the MN permit before WI had a permit available. The MN class I took included live fire. The license expired five years later but I didn’t renew it because it involved a road trip of several hours to a MN Sheriff’s Office to renew. Also, I think at that time MN accepted WI permits. So now I can’t carry in MN with my WI permit. Bah! It’s easier just to unload and case up when in MN. I don’t go there much anyways. Just for reference: I’m 75 years old and I have NEVER been checked for a concealed gun in my life. Not before I got my concealed carry permit or after.

I’ll be holding another class in afton mn on Sunday, Oct 4th.

Afton is across the river from Hudson Wi, then 4 miles downstream.

The class I took September 20th at the Winona Sportsman club had 110 people attend!! Chris Marquart, hope I spelled it right, was very good at telling us what we needed to know.

He has another class at Winona sportsman club end of October. Look it up on Winona sportsman club website. You will not be disappointed!

He owns Precision Plus Firearm Training.

    Class is $80.

Another option and one I highly recommend. They keep their class sizes small for good student to instructor ratio. If you happen to be one of those facebook people they sometimes post videos too.
