Just got my concealed carry permit and am looking for suggestions on holsters. I’ll be carrying a Springfield XDs 9 (pretty solid piece of equipment for a reasonable price!) and am planning on an “in the pants” type holster.

I bought my carry gun at Cabela’s and had every intention of getting a holster there too but nothing appealed to me, so I went to Gander Mountain. Found a IWB one made by Tempest, which you really don’t hear much about, but I really like it. Not sure on the fabric but it’s not leather, real comfy.

I currently carry a similar piece in a Foxx holsters “little foxx” and I really like it. I’ve had good experiences though with Alien Gear, Theiss, and Galco. Lots of good options out there!

Aliengear cloak tuck. If your not fully sure of how you want to carry their shapeshifter core kit is a great value. Let’s you try lots of different carry positions for a reasonable cost

Thanks for all the replies. I’ll definitely be checking them out. I’ve heard good things about the alien gear equipment from a few ppl before too. That shapeshifter kit sounds interesting!

Just got my concealed carry permit…

I have nothing useful to add, but if you’re a Minnesotan, you got a permit to carry, not a concealed carry permit. Sorry, it’s a pet peeve of mine. doah

PHLster, DarkStarGear, JM Custom Kydex, Raven Concealment, Henry Holsters, Zulu Bravo Kydex, Keepers Concealment, Safariland, Galco, some bladetech models. Stay away from junk. Great holsters cost good money for a reason.

Seems like everybody’s first IWB holster is alien gear. Very few are repeat customers.

And for the love of god don’t get a Serpa.

If you purchased all those brands to find one you like – How can you now afford the ammo to shoot jester

That’s interesting about alien gear. They must do a great job marketing, as they were the only brand I really knew of before this thread. That crossbreed holster looks promising as well. I’ll have to check out some of the various brands tornado mentioned.

tornadochaser – What model of IWB holster by Alien Gear did you try? What did you not like about it? I know several friends who own both the Tuck and the new shapeshifer and they really like them. I was about ready to buy one of the new shapeshifters myself but curious of your thoughts on their products

IWB assumes your pants are larger than you need. All mine fit so OWB.

You may need to buy pants that are just slightly larger than you need for a IWB – But the footprint of a IWB is far less than a OWB. In a sweatshirt of light jacket it is not a big deal. It is however in a tshirt or dress shirt.
Knowing you Suzuki you like those skinny man Jeans so that is why you don’t like the IWB jester

I borrowed a cloak tuck for 2 weeks. Couldn’t stand how the hardware dug into my skin, and when I tucked a shirt in behind the backer, it wasn’t much better. Some have great luck with them. But for not much more in cost you can get better holsters with better hardware and better clips.

You’re putting a tool onto the side of your body that could save your life or significantly alter your life if the holster fails. hybrid shell IWB holsters tend to eventually collapse causing reholstering issues. Most conceal carry related negligent discharges happen during reholstering.

I just ordered a darkstargear hitch hiker for my G43. Really looking forward to using this one.

I tried IWB. I have a nice Alien gear rig but it just wasnt for me. Like most I have an impressive holster collection. Too bad I lost all my hardware in a boating accident.

After considering all the suggestions I decided on the crossbreed supertuck and am loving it so far! Just need to tweak a little to minimize printing. Thanks for all the help!
