Turned on the In-Fisherman this morning and caught the Flathead segment. Nothing revealing or anything, but it definitely kicked the cabin fever up a notch. Just watching video of it I could almost feel the slime and how it feels when you first clutch on to that lower jaw. I am telling you, the fish has some sort of magical mystical power.

I too watched the In Fisherman show this morning. It was fun
seeing some open water action were the fish didn’t have scales.Did you notice all of the bugs flying around that were attracted to their lights.I don’t like bugs but it beats 20
below zero, that we saw this week.
DaveFebruary 12, 2011 at 2:59 pm #936856Where was it shot, any idea?
I’ve been looking at too many dormant flats and have the “Blues”.
One of these damn things will bite on camera!
February 12, 2011 at 4:45 pm #936878I caught the segment after it started, so I am not sure where they were. There did seem to be quite a few lights in the background and they said they were fishing behind an island. Not much for clues I know, but I was thinking the stretch midway between St. Paul and Hastings, but really it could have been anywhere.
I did notice the bugs too! Not sure if it was edited linearly, because at the end when all the bugs were around it seemed like twilight. But that made me think it was in the evening, not sun up.

February 14, 2011 at 2:22 pm #937272I didn’t catch the In-Fisherman because I just can’t watch it anymore. I think the quality of information has really gone down hill the last few years.
Lindners Angling Edge had a segment on channels this past week, though.

I absolutely agree, but I just happened to stumble across it turning on the TV.I think I stumbled across another In-Fisherman show this weekend and guess what? Doug Stange was fishing a small creek for channels. Seriously, how many segments can he do on that? Not to mention the same show had a segment on catching pike on, get ready for it, SWIMBAITS! Way to think outside the sponsor box In-Fisherman.
February 14, 2011 at 2:44 pm #937287Was it the one where he was fishing the Snake River in MN and tied it into a local restaurant and fished with the chef?
If so, that was fairly entertaining.

I don’t know, as I didn’t watch it long enough. This is the Snake that winds through central Mn, right. I need to take a canoe trip out on it this summer as it passes near the brother’s cabin.February 14, 2011 at 4:21 pm #937341Select 1 year from the drop down. I it is pretty cool and you can see the flooding last fall.

there is one tell tale factor in that video, if it is pool 2…
Was it the naked guy on shore? Speaking of which, where the heck is Tony these days? Or Marc (Audemp) for that matter. I’d say were is Manny, but I will probably bump into him this spring. Maybe we can keep our promise of fishing together more this summer.shawnilPosts: 467March 15, 2011 at 10:24 pm #947495Was looking back through the comments about another small stream channel cat segment, yeah I hear what you’re saying. Stange does love to cover that stuff.
But, I’d rather see some basic stuff like that as opposed to trying so hard to invent “new pattern” like Frosty Flatheads, or Cats on the Fly (or artificials). A lot of fishing coverage (in general, not just In-Fish) suffers from a case of trying too hard to prove they’re breaking some new ground or show some innovative “technique” or “pattern” that really has no practical application.
I’ll take segments about Dips and Cut Bait Channels and Flatcats in the Wood any old time.

March 16, 2011 at 4:17 pm #947732I’m going to feel better in 20 minutes. I’ll be leaving work and headed for ice
