It’s been a little quiet in here. Just wondering what everyone’s doing.

I’m still working on catching up from not being home most of the summer.
New carb on the generator tonight
Replacing the above range microwave sometime next week
Taking an online Master Captians license upgrade course has been keeping me out of trouble too.

Rods and reels are all cleaned up and ready for next year or a P4 channel outing yet this winter.

Check the inventory of hooks, swivels and sinkers…a little light in the sinker dept so I’ll be pouring some of them in the near future.

January is a full month of taking videos, channel fishing on Petenwell and the DNR meetings. Dang! It’s almost Feb already!

I’m trying to nail down a panfish bite. I like to get after the perch down here but the main basins on Monona and Mendota are not ready just yet. I used most of my time off when my mom was down for surgery last May so I am at work a lot but tired and depressed by all the bad news and evil rhetoric down here. I might make it up to Pete but not sure yet. Sounds like my wages are going down for the 4th year in a row so no family vacation again this year. My channel cat rods are still in the garage. I haven’t cleaned them or put them up yet. Pleased my Badgers are going to the Rose Bowl. It seems like the only thing going well around here.

This part-time cat guy is trying to get the rest of the snow moved from around the place. Just b4 the storm hit I rec’d the parts to change my boat trailer hubs over to liquid instead of the greased bearing set-up. Hopefully, between trips to the dentist, coffee shop and The Man’s Mall, I can finish that up next week. Retirement is NOT easy jerr

edit- was over to get my new driver’s license earlier this week. They’re good for 8 yrs, only cost me $42 for the priviledge. I handed over my money and asked the lady if I didn’t outlive my new license, could I apply for a refund. Took her a while on that one

Projects like this one has kept me off the water for awhile. I just closed two projects, and I’m finishing all the admin stuff on the year so I can get back to living life again. I love new construction, but projects like these have been fun. Typical 1700sqft ranch that needed to be adjusted for baby-boomers/”assisted living friendly”. Added 500 sqft, demo’d out about 1000 sqft of existing space and made everything user friendly. 52″ hallway to the new Master Suite, re-arranged hallways and bedrooms for wheel chairs/walker turn radius, revamped Laundry room, WIC’s and a lot more. For being in the middle of a city, I love their new view out the sunroom. I don’t have all the completion pictures downloaded yet. Color selections were awesome and it looks like its a 500K home now on the interior. Hate to see their new tax bill though….
I have plans to be on the ice Sunday, then coyote hunting everyday the following week.

What does he do? He doesn’t let trivial things such as ice and winter get in the way. He keeps catching cats.

I catch a lot more cats in Dec/Jan than I do in August/Sept. Sure they are mostly 2-4lbs and nothing over 10, plus not of the Flathead variety (which really is a buzzkill), but 40-50 fish days sure beats sitting at home taking inventory of swivels.

You’ve always been one cool cat Stuart. Now I see why, it’s your friends you hang with.

Oh now you had to go and start that again!

One thing good that came out of the rattling last year is the folks taking in-land courses won’t have to know international rules now. That trimmed 4 hours off of the OUPV class time.

Everything else is still that same.

Rootski, the submarine light when it’s above water or below.

Whats a cat guy do in winter? think about fishing catfish! After I get my house done I might be able to put more time in on the river, Probably even get to take my boat out. A major remodel takes alot of time when your working too. If I could find a place to buy a sinker mold for less then $40 bucks I might be pouring sinkers, I got about 75 lbs of lead thats just sitting around waiting to be made into sinkers, maybe some decent jig heads too.

My wife’s health has taken a bit of a nosedive, and we have a 2-year-old, 2 dogs and a house/yard/garage combo that need no end of support, maintenance and upkeep. So that’s been a bit part of my year so far. I’m probably going to need to do some serious maintenance on the boat in the spring since the cold weather snuck up on me and I never got much of a chance to winterize anything… I’m worried about any leftover water in the motor more than anything.

I’ve been spending a bit more time than I was at Bill’s gun range in Robbinsdale due to the recently acquired contents of the two attached pictures. It’s a nice diversion to dash to the gun shop, shoot off a box or two of .380 and head back home. And, as habits go, it’s still fairly cheap… although I’m going to start taking my .22 rifle along just for some uber-cheap fun, too.

I have a couple home remodeling projects going on… we’re moving our daughter (she’s 2) into a new room that I’m currently painting and stuff for her, and I’m building a cabinet into the wall in the downstairs family room for our surround sound and DVD player system.

Other than that, I’m sitting around jonesing for ice out and 60ºF water. Flathead fever is a b’itch.
